Russia's increased nuclear threats: how will NATO respond? | DW
News
Days after launching his invasion of Ukraine, Russian
President Vladimir Putin put his strategic nuclear arsenal on
high alert -- a warning to the west not to interfere. Analysts
believe the risk of an all-out nuclear war is low. Instead,
Putin might be tempted to use tactical nuclear weapons in
Ukraine - smaller weapons designed to cause more limited
devastation. How likely is that - and how would the west
respond?
Top US general: What's at stake is greater than Ukraine
I agree with the General. Now is the time. Putin has gone
too far and as long as he's not stopped he'll continue on with
other Countries

I love how the General speaks clearly and concisely
unlike every politician.

I love General Milley. He speaks truth to bullshit, and
he does not suffer fools. Victory to Ukraine!

You're absolutely right, General. It should have never
got past the first nuclear threat.... the world should have
handled it then.

God bless Kenya for their moral stand.
'Putin wants us to play his game' | Sir Roderic Lyne
Former UK ambassador to Russia Sir Roderic Lyne told
Times Radio that armed forces minister James Heappey's comments
about Ukraine attacking Russia were "loose talk" playing "into
the hands of the Russian propaganda machine."
He said: "We should not say what they want us to say. I mean,
likewise, the American defence secretary saying the objective
was to make Russia weak.
"Actually, we're going to have to coexist with Russia after this
war has ended, just as we found a way of turning around
relations with Germany after 1945. And it wasn't by destroying
Germany."
Taking a stand on Ukraine - German Chancellor in Tokyo, Japan |
DW News
Ukraine was high on the agenda as German Chancellor Olaf
Scholz met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo.
This is Scholz's first trip to Asia as Chancellor, and he chose
Japan as the regional starting point. The move is a departure
from previous protocol -- his recent predecessors have gone to
China first - and could signal a shift in focus.
After years of pacifism, Germany recently shifted policy by
authorizing sales of heavy weaponry to Ukraine, and by
increasing its defense budget. Now Japan is also considering
taking similar steps.
Finland mocks Russia’s threats. They sent tractors to the border
Russia threatens Finland, which wants to join NATO.
Representatives of Vladimir Putin’s country warned that the
Baltic state’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance would have
consequences.

To show “strength”, a video was posted online to scare
the Finns. The video shows the transport of the Russian missile
system across the Finnish border. This can be an element of
intimidation for a country wishing to join the Alliance.
