Be Prepared For Invasion, Israel Troops Told; Hamas Rocket Fire
From Lebanon, 8 Gaza Children Killed
The IDF said some 20 rockets were fired from Lebanon at
northern Israel, warning Hezbollah that it "will bear the
consequences" for the barrage. IDF claimed an airstrike against
"Palestinian gunmen" in the Nur Shams refugee camp, saying 10
officers were also hurt in the fighting. After the US, the UK
embassy in Beirut also advised citizens to leave Lebanon while
flights "remain available" amid rising tensions between Israel
and Hezbollah. Defence Minister Yoav Gallant vowed “total
annihilation of Hamas” and told Israeli troops they will soon
see Gaza from the “inside”. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said
Britain is standing by Israel in its “darkest hour” as it wages
war on Hamas. Egypt’s president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and
Jordan’s King Abdullah II have condemned the “collective
punishment” of Palestinians in Gaza.

Lebanon cannot stop Hezbollah mobilising if Israel do not
"Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese society. Of course,
they have their modus operandi. But until now, they've been
exerting self-restraint."
The Lebanese ambassador to the UK will not say if Lebanon would

Conflict.
Comments:
The incredible thing about the distinguished Ambassador
from Lebanon's comments is as if Hezbollah is the one calling
shots in Lebanon. Can anyone of us imagine that a rogue unit, a
militia---even a well-meaning security force not attached to the
government is the one actually in charge of deciding the fate
one's country and going to war against an adversary without the
consent of the people of the country if they feel some line in
the sand has been crossed? These outfits show us that only
puppet governments dressed up to look like normal functionaries
and bureaucrats are really the at the mercy of an unelected
group of armed individuals ready to start a war if necessary to
defend its honor. That they can start a war on a whim for
principles they decide are just and right is beyond the pale.
The most amazing thing is that we see the Ambassador of Lebanon
saying that his government cannot control Hezbollah if it
decides to go to war against Israel. Why then even have a
government if the President is not the one who decides on his
country going to war?
Responses to above comment:
Ever heard of the IRA? They fought the British Army in
Northern Ireland for decades and Britain is a far more stable
country than Lebanon. You don't seem to grasp the politics of
the Middle East.

They are not at their mercy, most of the savages that
live in these places support these groups

'Savages'? Would you care to elaborate as your comment
comes across as seriously racist.

Every Country in the region has the moral right to come
to the defence of Palestinians, not just Hezbollah, the reason
why he won't say anything is that the Lebanon's government would
fall, as the people of Lebanon support Palestinians, and the
main reason is properly he supports the rights of Palestinians
as well and want to see the indiscriminate bombing stopped!
:

First of all I am not a sympathiser of Islamic terrorism
and/or Islam in general BUT all this is caused by the
imposition of an artificial state in the Middle East. Israel has
been abusing all the power granted by the American umbrella
(propelled by the Jewish lobby in the US) all these years. The
Palestinian population has been subjugated to a continuous
humiliation worst than the recent killings. Every time that
Israel wishes to bomb Gaza or grab land in the West Bank causes
a lot of collateral deaths, where is the world press when that
happens? If someone occupies half of your house claiming some
previous ownership taking with it access to all the water taps
and power switches, would you stand by idle or fight
back?
Israelis living near Lebanon border fear Hezbollah may be about
to join the war
In the past two weeks, rocket and artillery attacks from Lebanon
have been intensifying, leading many to fear Israel's war with
Hamas may spread beyond Gaza to other fronts.
In the last 48 hours, attacks across the border on Israeli
communities and military positions have gone from sporadic to
incessant.
Thursday night's barrage of nine rockets and two anti-tank
missiles represents the worst escalation of violence in the area
in 17 years.
While Hezbollah is the largest pro-Iran militia group operating
in the border area, it is not the only one. A branch of Hamas in
Lebanon claimed responsibility for attacks on Thursday into the
city of Shmona that injured three people.
On Friday morning, in an indication of how seriously Israel's
military takes the possibility of a full-blown war on its
northern border, it announced that the 20,000 residents of
Shmona would be evacuated over the next couple of days.
Both Hezbollah and Hamas, which carried out the Oct. 7 attacks
against communities in southern Israel, are designated as
terrorist entities by Canada's government.
Hezbollah, however, is more powerful and dangerous.
Iran's foreign minister warned on Oct. 16 that if Israel's
bombing of Gaza continues, "alliance forces" in the region could
carry out a "pre-emptive" action.

Hezbollah official says his group already ‘is in the heart’ of
Israel-Hamas war
A top official with Hezbollah vowed that Israel will pay a high
price whenever it starts a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip
and said Saturday that his militant group based in Lebanon
already is “in the heart of the battle.”
The comments by Hezbollah’s deputy leader, Sheikh Naim Kassem,
came as Israel shelled and made drone strikes in southern
Lebanon and Hezbollah fired rockets and missiles toward Israel.
Hezbollah said six of its fighters were killed Saturday, the
highest daily toll since the violence began two weeks ago.
For Hezbollah, heating up the Lebanon-Israel border has a clear
purpose, Kassem said: “We are trying to weaken the Israeli enemy
and let them know that we are ready.” Hamas officials have said
that if Israel starts a ground offensive in Gaza, Hezbollah will
join the fighting.
Kassem said his group, which is allied with Hamas, already was
affecting the course of the conflict by heating up the
Lebanon-Israel border and keeping three Israeli army divisions
tied up in the north instead of preparing to fight in Gaza.
“Do you believe that if you try to crush the Palestinian
resistance, other resistance fighters in the region will not
act?” Kassem said in a speech Saturday during the funeral of a
Hezbollah fighter. “We are in the heart of the battle today. We
are making achievements through this battle.”
Hezbollah’s Kassem spoke about foreign dignitaries who visited
Lebanon over the past two weeks asking Lebanese officials to
convince the group not to take part in the latest Hamas-Israel
battle. He said Hezbollah’s response to Lebanese officials was,
“We are part of the battle.”
Speaking about an expected Israeli ground invasion of Gaza,
Kassem, said: “Our information are that the preparedness in Gaza
by Hamas and resistance fighters will make (the) Israeli ground
invasion their graveyard.”

Hezbollah changing tactics along Lebanon-Israel border
There is a notable increase in cross-border hostilities,
with evolving tactics. Rockets launched from Lebanon now reach
deeper into Israel, and Israel is targeting areas farther into
Lebanon. An Israeli settlement was hit, not a military position,
marking a shift. Hezbollah used a ground-to-air missile to down
an Israeli drone. Hezbollah's casualty rate dropped recently;
it's unclear if this reflects a strategy shift to minimize
losses or an escalation in the conflict.
Lebanon-Israel border fighting picks up before Hezbollah
leader’s speech
Lebanon’s Hezbollah attacked 19 Israeli positions simultaneously
along the border, prompting a retaliatory assault from Israel, a
day before an anticipated speech by the group’s leader, Hassan
Nasrallah.
The Iran-backed armed group said it targeted the military
positions along the border simultaneously at 3:30pm (13:30 GMT)
on Thursday with “guided missiles, artillery shelling” and other
weapons.
The Israeli military said it carried out a “broad assault”
against the group, in which “warplanes and helicopters” attacked
Hezbollah targets “in response to fire from Lebanese territory
earlier today, together with attacks with artillery and tank
fire”.
Another barrage of rockets wounded two people in the Israeli
town of Kiryat Shmona near the Lebanese border, Israel’s Magen
David Adom emergency medical service said.
The Lebanese section of Hamas’s armed wing said it fired a dozen
rockets at the town “in response to the occupation massacres
against our people in Gaza”.
Highly anticipated speech
Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah is set to speak Friday for the
first time since the war broke out.
Many people in Lebanon are anxiously awaiting the speech
The speech will also be avidly watched outside of Lebanon, as
Nasrallah is a leading voice in the informal alliance known as
the “Axis of Resistance”

Russia's Wagner group to enter Israel-Hamas war and provide air
support to Hezbollah; Pentagon expresses concern
The Israel-Hamas conflict is set to take a dangerous turn
with Russia's paramilitary, Wagner Group, announcing its
interest in providing high-tech air defence support to
Hezbollah, according to a new report.
Two US officials have confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that
Wagner intends to send Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group the
Russian SA-22 Greyhound system. This is a surface-to-air
missiles and anti-aircraft artillery to intercept aircraft.
Hezbollah, is an Iran-backed terrorist group that's based in
Lebanon. It has been exchanging fire with Israeli forces across
the country's northern border while Israel wages a ground and
air war against Hamas in the southern enclave of Gaza.
The Greyhound anti-aircraft system, or what Russia calls the
Pantsir-S1, is expected to give Hezbollah advanced capabilities
to repel Israeli aircraft, cruise missiles, and precision
munitions.
WSJ quoted Pentagon spokesman, Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, that the
report was 'very concerning', if true.
It's still uncertain whether the anti-aircraft system has
already been delivered. However, officials are monitoring talks
between Wagner and Hezbollah, and considered the issue one of
major concern.
Wagner Group had launched a failed mutiny against Russian leader
Vladimir Putin in June. It is a state-financed private military
company previously led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, who died later in a
plane crash.
What is Russian SA-22 Greyhound system
Comprising a missile launcher, radar truck, and command post,
the SA-22 Greyhound is engineered to provide point air defence
against both manned and unmanned aircraft, as well as certain
types of missiles.
Its deployment has raised concerns in the context of regional
conflicts, particularly along Israel's northern border, where
tensions persist with groups like Hezbollah. This high-tech
system has the potential to significantly impact the dynamics of
modern warfare, enhancing the air defense capabilities of the
groups or nations that possess it.
Hezbollah leader praises Hamas attack, says all options against
Israel 'on the table'
Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, speaking for the first
time since the Israel-Hamas war erupted, warned on Friday that a
wider conflict in the Middle East was a realistic possibility in
a speech that was expected to indicate whether his group would
wage a full-fledged war against Israel.
Nasrallah said that the operation launched by the Hamas militant
group against Israel on Oct. 7 — which led to the killing of
about 1,400 people, nearly all civilians — was "100 per cent
Palestinian." He said the Hamas operation led to an "earthquake"
in Israel and that it exposed the country's weakness.
A formidable military force backed by Iran, Hezbollah has been
engaging Israeli forces along the border, where 55 of its
fighters have been killed in the deadliest escalation since it
fought a war with Israel in 2006.
"What's happening on the border might seem modest but is very
important," said Nasrallah. He said the fighting on the
Lebanon-Israel border would "not be limited" to the scale seen
up until now and he warned that all options were "on the table."

This speech matters because the secretary general of Hezbollah

Hezbollah, Tehran leading from behind
Since the Hamas attacks on southern Israel on October 7, the
group’s leaders have been desperate for Hezbollah — its militant
Iran-backed ally in Lebanon — to open a second “resistance”
front, and have publicly called for others to enter the
conflict.
In their appeals for a second front, Hamas leaders had gone out
of their way to court Nasrallah, frequently citing his iconic
spiderweb allegory. For years the Hezbollah leader has cast
Israel as a country destined to dissolve, much like a spider’s
web. And according to Hamas, the October 7 attacks underlined
what Nasrallah had been talking about — Israel’s fragility.
In his first public comments since the Hamas assault, Nasrallah
referred to the spiderweb yet again, saying the attacks had
further exposed the “frailty of the Israeli entity.”
Skirmishes along the border would continue, he said, arguing it
was Hezbollah’s duty to support Hamas, and that in doing so it
could help draw significant Israeli military resources away from
Gaza. “The Lebanese front has lessened a large part of the
forces that were going to escalate the attack on Gaza,” he
noted.
Whatever the case, Nasrallah’s speech has been greeted in Israel
with a sigh of relief.
For all the bravado of Nasrallah’s claim that U.S. aircraft
carriers in the region don’t scare him, Washington believes that
the two it sent to the eastern Mediterranean have indeed
influenced Hezbollah and Tehran’s thinking — along with the
stark warnings from Israel that Lebanon would be flattened were
war to erupt.
“A broader regional conflict has been deterred,” said Pentagon
spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder. “Right now, we see
this conflict as contained between Israel and Hamas.”
