in Lebanon. Can anyone of us imagine that a rogue unit, a
militia---even a well-meaning security force not attached to the
government is the one actually in charge of deciding the fate

consent of the people of the country if they feel some line in
the sand has been crossed? These outfits show us that only
puppet governments dressed up to look like normal functionaries
and bureaucrats are really the at the mercy of an unelected
group of armed individuals ready to start a war if necessary to
defend its honor. That they can start a war on a whim for
principles they decide are just and right is beyond the pale.
The most amazing thing is that we see the Ambassador of Lebanon
saying that his government cannot control Hezbollah if it
decides to go to war against Israel. Why then even have a
government if the President is not the one who decides on his
country going to war?
