Creator worship goes hand in hand with child rearing. Aside from
the obvious point about children being expected to "thank the
parents later", even regular prayers to "God" by the parents
involved asking for material prosperity. Any transcendental or
immaterial things are out of the question.

"Expecting."
Then it is not forced. The offspring can choose to brush or to
not brush. The parent never finds out. I do not see a problem
here.
"My point about brushing teeth still stands though"
You will have to explain how.

"You will have to explain how."
The parent can closely monitor the child, and if it fails to
brush its teeth, they can "discipline" the child.

Then that's not expecting, but forcing, contrary to your earlier
clarification.

Ok. I misread your definition of forcing.

Person who has multiple offspring but doesn't practice child
rearing is superior to the one has few offspring but practices
child rearing.

If everyone has one offspring, at least we will reach zero
population (and hence no more violence against children) within
a finite number of generations. But if everyone has multiple
offspring, even though each child may experience less violence,
the violence will accumulate endlessly.

Good point. But I noticed child readers these days make sure to
have exactly two (I suspect that this a calculated effort on
their part).

Two is multiple.

[quote]
Having kids has nothing to do with religion. It is related to
literacy levels. The more people get educated, the lesser kids
they want to have because they want to give the best quality
upbringing to the kids they are going to have. Tamilnadu has
high literacy rate and therefore low population growth.

This is true. But "best quality" usually involves Western
definition (i.e. finding the "best" quality (Western) schools,
signing the offspring up for a bunch of extracurriculars). So
it's not really better than having more offspring.
