Iran decries revocation of Tehran’s General Assembly voting
rights
--- Quote ---
> Iran has condemned a UN decision to temporarily revoke
Tehran’s voting rights in the General Assembly over its
outstanding contributions to the world body.
>
> Tehran maintains it has paid its dues to the world body
regularly and that the economic sanctions have made payments
increasingly difficult for the country.
--- End Quote ---
--- Quote ---
> This decision is fundamentally flawed, entirely unacceptable,
and completely unjustified, as Iran's inability to fulfill its
financial obligation toward the United Nations is indirectly
caused by unlawful unilateral sanctions imposed by the United
States to punish those who comply with the Security Council
Resolution.
> — Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian Foreign Minister

--- Quote ---
> The UN should totally understand Iran's position, it's been
sanctioned by the worst international sanctions ever imposed on
a nation, arguably, in the modern era, and yet the United
Nations has obviously, religiously, decided to ignore the
realities and the circumstances of The Islamic Republic of Iran.
>
> Of course it goes deeper than this, the United Nations relies
on the US of A for its funds, the majority of the funds that
keep the United Nations going come from America, and of course
they're based primarily in the US as well.
>
> It's a misnomer to imagine that the UN is independent. —

Press TV And Al-Alam Relaunch On Iranian Domains After US
Closures
--- Quote ---
> A press release from the United States Justice Department(link
is external) has said the US seized the websites of 36 Iranian
and Iraqi television channels, including Press TV and the
Arabic-language Al-Alam, for operating “services, including
website and domain services” in the US without a license from
the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
>
> Licenses were needed, the Justice Department said, because the
websites owned by the Iranian Islamic Radio and Television Union
or Kata’ib Hezbollah, an Iraqi Shia group, were violating US
sanctions after OFAC had designated IRTVU in October 2020 “for
being owned or controlled by the [Iranian] Islamic Revolutionary
Guards Corps.”
>
> A US government notice slapped on the homepages of the closed
domains said they were seized as part of law enforcement by the
‘Bureau of Industry and Security’. Both Press TV and Al-Alam
were back online within hours, using Iranian domain addresses.

‘Do Not Trust The West,’ Khamenei Tells Next Iran Government
--- Quote ---
> In what appeared as a rough roadmap for Iran’s next
administration, the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader Ali
Khamenei said during a speech addressing President Hassan
Rouhani and his cabinet members on Wednesday that Iranian
officials should not trust the West.
>
> He advised “others” to use the Rouhani administration’s
experience. “In this administration, it became clear that
trusting the West is not helpful. They don’t help and they
strike a blow wherever they can. When they didn’t, it was
because they couldn’t,” Khamenei said.
>
> Khamenei then more clearly advised the next administration
that takes office on August 5 to distrust the United States. He
said: “Administrations should utterly avoid tying their plans
for negotiations with the West, for they’ll certainly fail. This
administration too, wherever it relied on negotiations with the
West and the US, they were unsuccessful, and when they relied on
domestic potential, they succeeded.”
>
> It was not clear what Khamenei was referring to by saying that
the Rouhani administration succeeded. There are multiple serious
crisis confronting Iran after eight years of Rouhani's
presidency. The only glimmer of relative success was in 2016,
when international sanctions were lifted after Iran agreed to
the 2015 nuclear deal.
>
> Referring to the latest rounds of indirect talks between
Iranian and US delegations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal also
called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Khamenei
said: “In the recent nuclear talks, the Americans staunchly
insisted on their obstinate stance. When making promises and on
paper, they say they’ll lift sanctions, but in practice, they
didn’t and won’t. Then they say new articles should be added to
the deal that already exists.”
>
> Khamenei was probably referring to the US demands that
negotiation over Iran’s missiles and regional role should follow
a nuclear agreement. Iran has also demanded that any future US
withdrawal from the JCPOA should be based on a UN vote.
--- End Quote ---
--- Quote ---
> “They always say they will lift the sanctions but they never
did it. Furthermore, they set new conditions and wish to include
a sentence in this agreement that facilitates further
negotiations. Otherwise, they say there will not be an
agreement,” Khamenei complained.

Drought dries up Iran's wheat supply
--- Quote ---
> Just five years ago, Iran had become self-sufficient in wheat
production. But the region's worst drought in 50 years, along
with sanctions, have now forced the country to import record
volumes of the grain from abroad. Reza Hatami reports from
Tehran.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claim responsibility for missile
attacks on 'strategic centers' in Iraq
--- Quote ---
> The United States has strongly condemned an overnight missile
strike on the Kurdish-Iraqi city of Erbil by Iran. Iran's
Revolutionary Guard said it launched the attack. A dozen
ballistic missiles struck buildings in the city, which is the
capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan region. One civilian was injured.
France said the strike threatened efforts to complete nuclear
talks with Iran. We speak to Middle East Expert Arash Azizi,
he's also the author of a book on the US and Iran.

The Iran nuclear deal is not the only thing Russia is holding
