Four new important Chinese archaeological discoveries of
the Neolithic Age were announced on Tuesday by the National
Cultural Heritage Administration, including an ancient defense
system and the largest prehistoric site in Central China's Hunan
Province.
A prehistoric site, discovered in North China's Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region, shows the defense system of a Neolithic Age
city. The ancient system consisted of ditches, gates and
barbicans that acted as a fortified outpost or gateway, such as
those found at a city's outer defense perimeter, as Southern
Metropolis Daily reported.
No prizes for guessing whom we were defending against (see bold
for hint). See also:
Last year a team of experts discovered a ring of large
shafts near Stonehenge that form what is believed to be the
largest prehistoric monument ever discovered in Britain. Tests
carried out on the pits suggested they were dug by Neolithic
people more than 4,500 years ago.
Experts believe the 20 or more shafts may have served as a
boundary to a sacred area connected to the henge.
...
“The Durrington Walls is massive, much bigger than Stonehenge,
but they’ve found something even bigger again.
...
“It would have looked like a wall of timber even though there
were gaps.
...
“It’s so huge they think it means they had some way of measuring
distance.
A fixed length of rope is all you need, duh!
“They are absolutely massive, but they must have had some
meaning because of the effort it took to dig them.
“They didn’t have mechanical diggers, but they must have had a
reason.
“Just when you think you have the measure of it all, something
else turns up.”
A recent study suggested that the ancestors of the builders of
the ancient monument travelled west across the Mediterranean
before reaching Britain around 4,000BC.
Researchers compared DNA extracted from Neolithic human remains
found across Britain with that of people alive at the same time
in Europe.
The Neolithic inhabitants were said to be descended from
populations originating in Anatolia (modern Turkey) that moved
to Iberia before heading north.

Over a dozen 6,000-year-old storehouses — still filled
with grain — uncovered in China
...
Archaeologists excavating the Huangshan site in Henan Province
uncovered 16 granaries used for storing grains, the Culture and
Tourism Department of Henan Province said in a Saturday, Dec. 10
release from the Xinhua News Agency.
The granaries are over 6,000 years old, dating back to China’s
Yangshao period, experts said. The oval and circular structures
were 7 to 10 feet wide with foundations, ground walls and
moisture-proof cushioning, archaeologists said and photos show.

Granaries are the one true way to store past labour. You cannot
get calories out of gold coins! Money merely stores the ability
to potentially purchase products of labour yet to be done....
assuming it is done at all. What if the anticipated future
labour does not occur? Thus it is those who possess money (as
opposed to those who possess granaries) who will always be the
ones with the incentive to stimulate future labour over and over
again without end.
