Spot on.

In reality, there is nothing in the Sinosphere less Chinese than
"New China".

Any of these places are far more authentically Chinese than
mainland China. This is most obvious in their pop culture which
demonstrate qualitative continuity from ancient China that
mainland pop culture does not (despite the latter trying much
harder to pretend it does). There may also be a racial
explanation for this (less Turanian blood).

I highly encourage this term because the CCP was far better
during Deng, Jiang and Hu.

Dear You, a recently screened Chinese hit movie - very moving
story indeed, caused a controversy in Singapore due to the
Tiewchiu dialect used in the film which is considered out of
line with their current Mandarin-only policy when it comes to
the Chinese language. It's a shame the Singapore government is
so insensitive to the local Chinese community which has a high
proportion of Tiewchiu speakers since way back in its history.

> The campaign targeted "Chinese dialects",[38] a term rejected
by some linguists due to a lack of mutual intelligibility,
according to Tan Dawn Wei of The Straits Times.[39] It
restricted "dialects" such as Hokkien and Cantonese, in media
like film, television, and radio,[40] in order to "support
Mandarin as the main language among Chinese Singaporeans."[38]
The Mandarin release of the film reignited debate about
Singapore's language policies[41] and the "cultural trade-offs"
that were made, arguing about whether Mandarin and non-Mandarin
varieties of Chinese can co-exist.[39]

Demographically, Singapore has no reason to promote Mandarin:

Even if we assume 100% of "Other Chinese" are Mandarin-speakers,
that is still <10%!

languages, simplified characters are the official standard and

this can only be interpreted as CCP-bootlicking.
