Arab nations join forces with Africa at continent’s first
climate summit
The historic first Africa Climate Summit held this week allowed
the continent to set out how its countries can tackle global
warming — with the Arab world taking a key role in shaping the
conversation.
Led by Kenyan President William Ruto, the unprecedented
gathering underscored the urgent need for global action to
combat climate change, placing the Arab angle at the forefront
of discussions.
The summit, held from Sept. 4 to 6 in Kenya’s capital Nairobi,
set a powerful precedent for cross-continental cooperation, with
the goal of harnessing collective strength to mitigate the
far-reaching impacts of climate change and secure a sustainable
future for both regions.
In this context, the Africa Climate Summit can serve as “a
catalyst for collaborative initiatives that transcend borders,”

In the first video (Indian one), the music is a hodgepodge
mixture of Classical Indian Carnatic and Westernized Pop music.
The song itself is an English language pop song by the singer Ed
Sheeran that has been remixed using Indian musical styles. For a
government that purportedly seeks to promote "Indian" culture,
it is very cheap of them to use a foreign pop song that has
merely been remixed. Moreover, the dance choreography and
synchronization are subpar, in addition to being crass and
vulgar (i.e. suggestive hip thrusts). I am not an authoritarian
who seeks to ban this type of dancing, but it is completely
inappropriate for welcoming foreign dignitaries:

In the second video, the disco lights/laser show is completely
unnecessary and inappropriate. The song was added by the Twitter
user so no complaints there.

"it is completely inappropriate for welcoming foreign
dignitaries:"
Can you, for contrast, post a video of a performance that you
would consider suitable for welcoming foreign dignitaries?

Why France and Turkey are Feuding over Africa
Despite both being in NATO, France and Turkey don't
really get on. In just the last few years, the relationship has
soured due to Syria, Libya and the disputes in the Eastern
Mediterranean. With the tensions escalating in 2020, a bit of
improvement a year later, is France really becoming Turkey's
enemy?
Europa.

Amazing to think that Erdogan saying “Africa belongs to
Africans” is viewed as controversial by France…. No wonder they
are getting kicked out

Turkey already established relationships in East Africa
especially in Somalia since they have their biggest military
base in Somalia. Turkey clearly want to establish relationships
with majority Muslim countries in Africa and this pretty much
will give them laverge over long term. France will lose their
influence in Africa since their is nothing common that France
and West Africa have unlike turkey.

We see this phenomenon with other colonialist . Like
Indians. Pakistanis, Nigerian etc migrating to uk. This doesn’t
mean these people are not aware of the atrocities these colonial
empire have committed to their countries and have made their
country poor.

The amount of butthurt people over Turkey OFFERING TRADE
AGREEMENTS, is absolutely insane and ridiculous. Turkey is not
forcing anyone to accept them. Yet the comment section is filled
with people defending the neo-colonial Empire of France and
demands for sanctions against Turkey.
Global South leaders demand end of ‘plundering international
order’
Cuba’s leader says the Global South must “change the rules of
the game” of the international order after centuries of
dominance by wealthy Western nations putting their own interests
first.
President Miguel Diaz-Canel said developing countries were the
main victims of a “multidimensional crisis” in the world today
from “abusive unequal trade” to devastating climate change.
“After all this time that the North has organised the world
according to its interests, it is now up to the South to change
the rules of the game,” Diaz-Canel said at the opening of the
G77+China summit in Havana.
Emerging countries represent 80 percent of the world’s
population. The meeting comes at a time of growing frustration
with the Western-led world order
United Nations chief Antonio Guterres joined 30 heads of state
and government from Africa, Asia and Latin America at the
two-day gathering.
At the opening of the meeting on Friday, Guterres called for a
world “more representative and responsive to the needs of
developing economies”, stressing nations were “trapped in a
tangle of global crises”.
“The conclusion is clear: The world is failing developing
countries,” Guterres said in Spanish.
‘Unjust’ international order
China is represented by top Communist Party official Li Xi, who
said his country “will always make South-South cooperation a
priority” in its dealings with the outside world.
A draft of the closing statement underlines the many obstacles
facing developing nations, and includes “a call for the
establishment of a new economic world order”, he said.

HTML https://us.yahoo.com/news/china-un-presents-itself-member-225502802.html
China, at UN, presents itself as a member of the Global
South as alternative to a Western model
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — China told assembled world leaders
Thursday that it considers itself part of the Global South,
saying it identifies with the goals and challenges of
less-developed nations and offering them an alternative to what
it has long called “Western hegemony.”
...
Xi sent Vice President Han Zheng to deliver a policy statement
at the General Assembly's leaders' meeting that covered the
government's usual positions with familiar language but appeared
to focus on building coalitions around its approach to
development and international relations.
“As the largest developing country, China is a natural member of
the Global South. It breathes the same breath with other
developing countries and shares the same future with them,” Han
said. He also said China supports those nations' development
path “in keeping with their national conditions.”
The loosely defined term “Global South,” which has come up
frequently at the United Nations this year, identifies nations
around the world that are less developed and less rich than what
have typically been called “first-world nations.” They're not
necessarily in the Southern Hemisphere; many, in fact, are
not.
Good! But did anyone give Xi the memo reminding him that Russia
is not part of the Global South?

China says Israel has gone too far
China’s foreign minister said Saturday that Israel has gone too
far in responding to last week’s invasion by Hamas, China’s
official news agency reported.
Speaking to Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al
Saud, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Israel’s actions
have extended beyond self-defense.
According to Xinhua, China has an interest in helping resolve
the conflict and the underlying issues involving the Palestinian
population.
The report contained no direct quotes, but Xinhua said about
Wang’s remarks during the phone conversation: “China is in
intensive communication with all parties to push for a ceasefire
and an end to the fighting, he said, adding that the pressing
task is to ensure the safety of civilians, open humanitarian
corridors for aid as soon as possible, and protect the basic
needs of the people in Gaza.”
Before the Hamas incursion and subsequent Israeli military
response, it was believed that Israel and Saudi Arabia, driven
by a common animus toward Iran, were working toward a
normalization of relations, a development that could have
shifted the dynamic in the Middle East.
