The last seven years have been the Earth’s hottest ever
recorded, a group of scientists announced, with 2021 ranking as
the fifth warmest on record.
Last year saw record temperature highs being set or tied in 10
cities of 10 countries: Canada, Dominica, Morocco, Oman,
Turkiye, Taiwan, Italy, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and
the US.
In 2015, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
determined the threshold for average global temperature at 1.5
degrees above pre-industrial levels. And while the world is
currently 1.1 degrees warmer than it was before the industrial
revolution, last year saw a variety of disasters across the
world including Arctic melting events, droughts, heatwaves,
wildfires and flashfloods.
According to watchdog Climate Action Tracker estimates,
temperatures could rise a catastrophic 2.7 degrees by 2030 if
COP26 pledges are disregarded.
Experts also warn that the only way to prevent extreme
detrimental effects on biodiversity, freshwater, and food
supplies would be to limit warming to 1.5 degrees.
"Going forward, we should expect the frequency and severity of
such extremes to increase, exacting an enormous toll on
societies around the world," Kim Cobb, director of the Global
Change Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology told CNN.

Earth's sixth mass extinction has begun according to scientists
A study from the International Union for Conservation of
Nature (IUCN) found that hundreds of land animals could go
extinct in the next 20 years.

It is no secret that extinctions have been happening at
an alarming rate in recent decades with human involvement and
climate change blamed for creating habitats unsuitable for many
species of wildlife.
Even more worrying is the findings of a major study by the
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List
of Threatened Species and BirdLife International which found
that the earth may be on the brink of a mass extinction event.
Worldwide it is thought that more than 500 species of land
animal are close to extinction and could be lost within the next
20 years. The report was published in the scientific journal
Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and studied
29,000 species of land vertebrate. They estimated that the
number of extinctions expected in the next two decades would
likely take thousands of years if not for the negative impact of
humanity.
MASS EXTINCTION UNDERWAY💀
Researchers estimated that up 1 in 10 of Earth's known
species may already have gone extinct in the past 500 years!

'We're in trouble:' U.S. envoy urges faster action on climate
goals
The world is "not on a good track" to meet a global goal
to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and must intensify
efforts to move away from fossil fuels this decade, John Kerry,
the U.S. special envoy on climate change, said on Monday.

And again, one civilization alone is to blame. Until enough

"human" problem, they will not understand what is required to

Why the sixth mass extinction is here. Now.
This week a new report was released by the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), specifically
looking at the impacts of climate change. It makes for grim
reading. The report tells us that climate change is already
impacting billions of people, and pushing wildlife to
extinction. Further, these impacts are going to get worse the
more carbon we put into the atmosphere. In this video I look at
why the loss of species is particularly dangerous, risking
sending us at breakneck speed into the sixth mass extinction in
the history of our planet.
