Well, if Covid and black fungus don't get you then you still
have valley fever to look forward too, not to mention all the
ancient microbes that will be thawed out from the melting
icebergs. No telling what else is heading this way further down
the road. Such a wonderful world human-beings have created.
Clearly the best thing that's ever happened to this planet! The
only people it's easy for me to feel sorry for are the children
firstly, and the victims of Western civilization secondly. I
could really careless about the rest of you. I often find myself
wondering if the true and living God of the spirit realm feels
the same way about most of you? It would almost be a shame if
God didn't at this point....

'Moon wobble' could cause flood surge, NASA says
U.S. coastlines will face increasing flooding in the
mid-2030s because of a regular lunar cycle that will magnify
rising sea levels caused by climate change, according to
research led by NASA scientists.

Oregon Bootleg Fire, nation’s largest, keeps doubling in size
National Interagency Fire Center reports more than 65
major fires in Western U.S. states that have burned close to a
million acres so far. Thousands have fled their homes. The
largest fire in the country is in Southern Oregon, and has
already burned more than 150,000 acres — twice the size of
Portland. William Brangham discusses the fires with Rich Tyler
of the Oregon State Fire Marshal's office.
China: Heavy rains cause deadly floods in Henan province
Heavy rainfall inundated streets and caused major rivers
to burst their banks in the central province of Henan on
Tuesday.
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) also reported that the storm
had damaged the Yihetan dam near the city of Luoyang. They
warned that "the dam might collapse at any time" after a 20
meter breach had appeared in the structure.
Officials in the provincial capital of Zhengzhou say 12 people
have died and five others have been injured. The Chinese central
government upgraded its flood emergency response from level III
to level II on Wednesday due to the crisis.
Local authorities in Henan said thousands of people have been
evacuated from the city as a result of the floods.
Unusually heavy rain has been falling in the province — twice
the size of Austria and with a population of 94 million — since
the weekend.
A video shared widely over social media showed torrents of water
cascading through one of the city's subway stations as well as
people standing waist-deep in water inside a subway train.
Summer often brings heavy rain and flooding to the region, but
growing cities and changes to land use have increased the costs
of flood damage.
The flooding in central China comes days after catastrophic
flooding led to the deaths of over 160 people in western
Germany.
Californians scramble for fresh water as taps, wells run dry
The severe drought across the Western U.S. is already
causing long term problems, exacerbated by the warming
atmosphere driven by climate change. As William Brangham reports
from California’s San Joaquin Valley, the demand for water has
threatened the drinking supply for hundreds of thousands of
rural residents — including the farmers who grow a significant
part of the country’s food supply.
Greenland just lost a massive amount of ice
With climate change fueling high temperatures across the
Arctic, Greenland lost a massive amount of ice with enough
melting to cover the U.S. state of Florida in 2 inches (5.1 cm)
of water, scientists said.
Enough ice melted in Greenland over the past two days
that the runoff could cover an area the size of Florida in four
inches of water, according to Polar Portal, a Danish website
that monitors the Greenland ice sheet. Greenland is the largest
ice mass in the northern hemisphere and has a population of
around 50,000. It lost more than 8.5 billion tons of surface
mass on Wednesday, according to data from the Danish
Meteorological Institute (DMI). The shedding continued into
Thursday, where it lost an additional 8.4 billion tons of
surface area. The melting from just Wednesday would be enough to
cover Florida — which has a land area of 65,758 square miles —
in two inches of water. The autonomous Danish territory's
melting season typically lasts from June to August and peaks in
July. Since last Wednesday, it has lost more than 40 billion
tons of ice, according to DMI's data, and more than 100 billion
tons since the start of June. Greenland saw its worst melting in
2019, when it lost more than 530 billion tons of ice during the
season, reported the BBC. In a one-day record, on July 30, 2019,
it lost more than 11 billion tons of ice in a day, reported CNN.
While it's unlikely the ice sheets will see as much melting in
2021, the World Meteorological Organization said in a tweet the
melting area is larger than two years ago. A recent report of
14,000 scientists warning of a climate emergency said Greenland
and Antarctica are showing record low levels of ice, and are
melting around 30% faster than 15 years ago. Meanwhile,
Greenland's melting ice is expected to contribute around 23 feet
to rising sea levels eventually, reported the Guardian.
If this is accurate, it means 90% of all fossil fuel emissions
in the post-industrial era have occurred within the past 85
years.
In the past 5 years, 10% of all post-industrial fossil fuel
emissions were created. In the past 10 years--20%; in the past
15 years--30%...
Democracy is too dysfunctional to stop this.
