       --- Quote ---
       > Google has developed a quantum computer that instantly makes
calculations that would take the best existing supercomputers 47
years, in a breakthrough meant to establish beyond doubt that
the experimental machines can outperform conventional rivals.
       >
       > A paper from researchers at Google published online claims
that the company’s latest technology is “beyond the capabilities
       of existing classical supercomputers”.
       > ...
       > Four years ago, Google claimed to be the first company to
achieve “quantum supremacy” – a milestone point at which quantum
       computers surpass existing machines.
       >
       > This was challenged at the time by rivals, which argued that
Google was exaggerating the difference between its machine and
       traditional supercomputers.
       >
       > The company’s new paper – Phase Transition in Random Circuit
Sampling – published on the open access science website ArXiv,
demonstrates a more powerful device that aims to end the debate.
       >
       > While the 2019 machine had 53 qubits, the building blocks of
quantum computers, the next generation device has 70.
       >
       > Adding more qubits improves a quantum computer’s power
exponentially, meaning the new machine is 241 million times more
       powerful than the 2019 machine.
       >
       > The researchers said it would take Frontier, the world’s
leading supercomputer, 6.18 seconds to match a calculation from
Google’s 53-qubit computer from 2019. In comparison, it would
take 47.2 years to match its latest one.

       The Western reaction:

       is the same one:

       > In 1980, Paul Benioff introduced the quantum Turing machine,

When digital computers became faster, physicists faced an
exponential increase in overhead when simulating quantum
dynamics,[9] prompting Yuri Manin and Richard Feynman to
independently suggest that hardware based on quantum phenomena
might be more efficient for computer simulation.[10][11][12]

Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus, which regenerates its entire body
from cells located in its mouth.
       >
       > Hydractinia are tiny tube-shaped creatures that live on the
shells of rare crustaceans. Their remarkable regenerative
abilities are expected to have implications for healthcare and
       anti-aging treatments.
       >
       > These abilities were discovered after researchers sequenced
pieces of RNA, which are related to the biological process of
       gene aging.
       >
       > How can a jellyfish-like marine animal lead to the development
of a "fountain of youth" pill?
       >
       > While humans have the ability to regenerate in certain
situations, such as healing a broken bone or regrowing a damaged
liver, other creatures like salamanders and zebrafish can
replace whole organs and regenerate a variety of tissues.
Simple-bodied species like Hydractinia often exhibit extreme
       regenerative abilities.
       >
       > Hydractinia utilizes stem cells, which are master cells
capable of becoming any type of tissue. The research team
identified similar genes in humans. Experiments have shown that
Hydractinia removes senescent cells from its mouth, while humans
cannot eliminate senescent cells as easily. The roles of
aging-related genes in Hydractinia provide insights into how the
       aging process has evolved.
       >
       > Baxevanis said that the process by which senescent cells
trigger regeneration and its prevalence in the animal kingdom is

       >
       > What she asked for: Rona Wang, 24, has been experimenting with
AI portrait generators. In a recent attempt, she purportedly
used a program called Playground AI to turn an image of her in
an MIT sweatshirt into “a professional LinkedIn profile photo.”
       >
       > What she got: The program, to Wang’s surprise, returned an
image that gave her a fairer complexion, dark blonde hair and
       blue eyes.

       > “I was like, ‘Wow, does this thing think I should become white

Yes, that is exactly what it thinks. And this is despite "Asian"
women earning more on average than "white" women in reality (a
fact which AI should be able to find faster than I did):
  HTML https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/VRLa0LDl_c34z-yWfZZv62wegKM=/0x0:385x591/1120x0/filters:focal(0x0:385x591):format(webp):no_upscale()/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/6736705/Screen%20Shot%202016-07-01%20at%201.18.34%20PM.png
So it's not even that AI is just following the relevant data
wherever it leads (or else it would have turned Wang into an
"Asian" man). AI Eurocentrism is internal to the workings of AI
itself, just as I predicted it would be.

By you introducing something new to detect, deepfake can also

Like I mentioned a while back, the people involved with this
sort of AI technology, are working around the clock to produce a
world where we can never trust anything ever again. Any photo
could be fake. Any video could be fake. Any social media account
could be fake, as a means of making certain ideologies appear to
be more popular than they actually are, or for that matter, to
make our ideological side look worse than we actually are. It’s
going to be complete and total anarchy. Maybe people will start
to only trust things heard in real life through word of mouth
and avoid the internet entirely for knowledge of the real world,
but that also comes with its own host of problems. As much as
the internet has its issues, verified posts or photos or videos
online were a thousand times more reliable than in-person gossip
before the current form of AI came along. People have their
agendas, but you could at least take everything from all sides
       and form a general conclusion

But how can someone who relies on word of mouth be sure that the
person telling them something in real life didn't get that piece
of information from the internet, or from someone else who got
       it from the internet?
This is as flawed as thinking that having only one sexual

sexual partner have, and how many additional sexual partners do
