       > Police in Montreal are investigating after video captured two
white officers kneeling on the neck and lower back of a Black
teen during a June 10 incident.
       > ...
       > The video showed the officers wrestling the teen’s hands
behind his back as they knelt on top of him, and he didn’t
appear to resist the officers in any way.
       > ...
       > Majorie Villefranche, the director of the community
organization Maison d’Haiti, told the CBC that she knows the
teen and his mother. She contested the police’s claim that the
boys were fighting, but were rather playing in the street. She
also said that it seemed like the officers were trying to
       humiliate the teen.
       >
       > While there’s still a lot of questions that need to be
answered revolving this incident, one thing is certain: the
issue of disproportionate police violence against people of
color isn’t just something that’s relegated to the United
States. The Montreal police force acknowledged that systemic
racism exists after a report released last year extensively
       detailed discrimination within city services.

Yes, it is because he is "black". But it is also because you do
not use your firearms against cops every time something like
this happens. You cannot change your ethnic background, but you
can change what you do with your firearms.

       --- Quote ---
       > It’s been nearly four years since three St. Louis police
officers were accused of brutally beating a Black undercover
officer during a protest taking place over former police officer
Jason Stockley being acquitted of murder in the killing of
Anthony Lamar in 2017. Last Thursday, one of those officers was
found guilty of his role in the incident after a jury failed to
convict him earlier this year prompting the judge to declare a
       mistrial.
       >
       > In March, The Root reported that St. Louis Metropolitan Police
Officers Steven Korte and Christopher Myers were found not
guilty of deprivation of rights under the color of the law,
which they were charged with in connection to the beating of
Detective Luther Hall, who had been posing undercover as a
protester, unbeknownst to his alleged assailants. Dustin Boone
was also charged in the beating, but his case ended in a
       mistrial.
       > ...
       > The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that, while jurors were
able to return a guilty verdict on Boone, they were not able to
reach a decision on a related charge against Myers, who was
accused of tampering with evidence by destroying Hall’s cell
phone in order to impede any investigation into the beating.
       >
       > Myers’ lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, said that he’d be surprised if
his client was tried a third time on the evidence tampering
charge and that after two trials ended in only one conviction on
one charge for one defendant, “I would say it’s time to quit.”
       > ...
       > “Boone had a history of sending racist texts and celebrated
the use of violence against protesters and others,” according to
the Post-Dispatch. As we previously reported, Boone was accused
of sending texts to his fellow officers the day of Stokley’s
acquittal that read, “It’s gonna get IGNORANT tonight!!” and
“It’s gonna be a lot of fun beating the hell out of these
shitheads once the sun goes down and nobody can tell us
       apart!!!!”
       > ...
       > As for Hall—who, at the end of the day, went undercover as a
protester against police brutality and ironically ended up
becoming a victim of police brutality—Costantin told the
Post-Dispatch after Boone’s guilty verdict that Hall is “still
absorbing it. It’s very difficult, what he’s gone through.”
       >
       > She also said that Hall was experiencing both physical pain
and emotional pain “because he feels he was betrayed by fellow
       officers.”

Chief Anthony Campo was immediately placed on administrative

Cops Caught On Video Posing With A Corpse

It's OK to be a "white" sheriff candidate:

       --- Quote ---
       > Cop Who Held Black Mom and Kids at Gunpoint Runs for Sheriff
       >
       > Last August, a video of four terrified young Black girls
face-down on hot asphalt and surrounded by police officers with
guns drawn stoked fury around the country—a scene initiated by
an Aurora, Colorado, cop who wrongly believed the family was in
       a stolen car.
       >
       > Brittany Gilliam, 30, told The Daily Beast that she pleaded
with Officer Darian Dasko to let her prove she owned the car
after she was removed from it with her 6-year-old daughter, her
17-year-old sister, and two nieces aged 12 and 14. But as the
girls cried on the ground, Dasko ignored her, she said.
       >
       > She said she’s never forgotten his aggressive tactics or his
cold-hearted response. So she was disheartened to learn that
Dasko, 30, has submitted paperwork to run for sheriff of Las
Animas County, a rural region of 15,000 three hours south of
       Aurora.
       > ...
       > In January, the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office
declined to bring criminal charges against him, writing that
although no one in the car had committed any crimes or done
anything to justify being removed from the car at gunpoint,
there wasn’t enough evidence to prove Dasko “unlawfully,
intentionally, knowingly, or negligently” violated any laws,
according to a report obtained by The Daily Beast.
       > ...
       > She said his decision to seek the sheriff’s job less than a
year after the furor did not suggest repentance.
       >
       > “It’s not humble, it’s not ownership, it’s not how I would
teach my kids to behave either. I just think that the kindest
thing he could do is not be in that position,” she said. “It
just shows a lack of accountability.”
       --- End Quote ---
And, just to prove that this is a bloodline problem:
       --- Quote ---
       > Heidi Dasko, the officer’s mother, disagreed. In a
text-message exchange with The Daily Beast, she said she doesn’t
believe it is fair that her son continues to be blamed for what
happened and challenged established facts of the case, like the
fact that two children were handcuffed, which the DA report
confirmed. Defending her son’s actions, she said “he followed
his training” and “treated everyone with respect.”
       --- End Quote ---
       Anyway:
       --- Quote ---
       > the encounter with Gilliam and her family isn’t the only
       blemish on Dasko’s record.
       >
       > According to federal court records, his conduct, along with
that of other Aurora officers, resulted in a March $300,000
settlement between the city and Teddy Pittman—a Black man who
said he was pulled over twice by Aurora police in 2019 for
“routine traffic stops” that were turned into unlawful searches.
       >
       > Pittman, who did not respond to a request for comment, said in
a lawsuit that Dasko was the officer who pulled him over in
January 2019, ran his background and discovered a 2016 arrest
and alleged gang ties, and forced him out of the car and
searched him for weapons. When Dasko didn’t find drugs or guns
he allegedly charged Pittman with failing to obey a lawful
order, which was later dismissed by prosecutors. Pittman filed a
complaint with the police department, but a spokeswoman said it
was deemed “unfounded” and an internal affairs investigation was
       not conducted.
