British and French gunboats in standoff over fishing rights
       --- Quote ---
       > As part of the Brexit fallout, British and French gunboats
have eyed each other off in the English Channel over shellfish.
At the centre of the feud is the self-governing Jersey Island.
It's closely allied with Britain but lies just 22 km off the
       coast of France.
       >
       > A flotilla of French fishermen are threatening a blockade over
tougher licencing rules, while Jersey’s fishermen are now banned
from French ports. Sarah Morice is in Jersey.

Brexit Gets Heated: Britain Forces Changes to Northern Irish
       Protocol - TLDR News
       --- Quote ---
       > The Irish Border and the Irish Sea Border have been pretty
contentious since before Brexit even started making changes -
but in recent weeks things have become even harder. So to try
and solve those problems Britain seems to just be... well
ignoring them? In this video we discuss the changes Britain is
attempting to make to the Northern Irish Protocol, the EU
response and how this whole issue could be solved.

How Brexit is Reigniting Tensions in Northern Ireland
       --- Quote ---
       > It's been over two decades since the signing of the Good
Friday Agreement ended the violent conflict in Northern Ireland
known euphemistically as “the troubles.” But earlier this year
the country saw some of the worst unrest in recent years, with
rioting spreading to multiple towns and cities across the
       country.
       >
       > One of the driving forces behind the violence is Northern
Ireland's post Brexit relationship with the EU. On leaving
Europe it was agreed that no land border for goods or people
would be placed between Northern Ireland, part of the UK and the
Republic of Ireland, an EU member— as cooperation between the
two nations was a big part of what ended 30 years of conflict in
       1998.
       >
       > But the decision to avoid a border on the island of Ireland
has resulted in a de facto sea border for goods being placed
between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. This is
something many in Northern Ireland's Protestant Unionist
community believe is a threat to their identity and their
country's future as part of the UK.

Gas prices in the UK could trigger food shortages within weeks

Gas prices in the UK could trigger food shortages within weeks
       --- Quote ---
       > London (CNN Business)UK supermarkets could face shortages of
meat and other fresh food within weeks after soaring gas prices
prompted a major US fertilizer manufacturer to suspend
production, turning off most of Britain's supply of carbon
dioxide to the food and drink industry in the process.
       > Illinois-based CF Industries (CF) said last week that it would
halt operations indefinitely at its two UK plants because of the
       high price of natural gas.
       > Those plants supply 60% of the United Kingdom's food-grade CO2
as a byproduct of fertilizer production, according to the
British Meat Processors Association (BMPA), which warned on
Friday that the supply shock could cause food shortages within
14 days once current stocks of CO2 gas run out.
       >
       > The gas is used to stun animals for slaughter, as well as in
packaging to extend the shelf life of fresh, chilled and baked
goods, and in the production of carbonated drinks.

       > MANCHESTER, England, Oct 3 (Reuters) - British Prime Minister
Boris Johnson said on Sunday he would not return to
"uncontrolled immigration" to solve fuel, gas and Christmas food
crises, suggesting such strains were part of a period of
       post-Brexit adjustment.
       > ...

lever marked uncontrolled immigration, and allow in huge numbers
of people to do work ... So what I won't do is go back to the

uncontrolled immigration," he told the BBC's Andrew Marr Show.

Project Fear Becomes Reality? Is Brexit to Blame for British
       Shortages - TLDR News
       --- Quote ---
       > Britain's going through quite of lot of disruption at the
moment; fuel shortages, food shortages and rising energy prices.
So some are beginning to question whether what was once called
Project Fear is now becoming a reality. So in this video we look
through the Yellowhammer report to find out if the government's
Brexit fears are actually becoming the truth.

Are Britain's Shortages Actually Increasing Wages? Johnson
       Claims So... - TLDR News
       --- Quote ---
       > Over the weekend Johnson defended his record on the food and
fuel shortages, insisting that they were actually a good thing,
pushing up wages (especially among the poorest groups). That
seems like a bit of a difficult argument, so in this video we
unpick what this means for Britain and if he's right that wages
       will increase as a result.

If Britain had increased instead of decreased its immigration
levels post-Brexit, the shortages could have been avoided. There
is nothing in Brexit itself that requires post-Brexit Britain
reduce immigration levels. The shortages are caused by Johnson
following majority opinion instead of doing what is both
ethically correct and economically sensible (ie. opening the
borders). In short, we should blame:
