Russia says it has granted Assad, his family asylum on
"humanitarian grounds."
Syria's Bashar al Assad and his family have arrived in
Russia and have been granted asylum by the Russian authorities,
Russian news agencies reported on Sunday, citing a Kremlin
source.
The Interfax news agency quoted the unnamed source as saying:
"President Assad of Syria has arrived in Moscow. Russia has
granted them (him and his family) asylum on humanitarian
grounds."
The Syrian opposition leaders, meanwhile, have guaranteed the
safety of Russian military bases and diplomatic missions inside
Syria, Russian news agencies reported on Sunday, citing a
Kremlin source.
The TASS state news agency said: "Russian officials are in
contact with representatives of the armed Syrian opposition,
whose leaders have guaranteed the safety of Russian military
bases and diplomatic institutions on the territory of Syria."
Russia has also asked the United Nations Security Council to
meet on Syria on Monday.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Sunday that the
future of Syria is a matter for the Syrians to determine and
that his special envoy Geir Pedersen "will be working with them
towards that end".
"There is much work to be done to ensure an orderly political
transition to renewed institutions. I reiterate my call for calm
and avoiding violence at this sensitive time, while protecting
the rights of all Syrians," Guterres said in a statement.

Turkey Readies ‘Steel Dome’ To Keep Israel Out Of Syria, Bibi’s
Forces Raid Assad Army’s Den
Israel claimed raiding a former Assad command center in
Syria, seizing and destroying weapons. A prior strike on Tseel
allegedly killed civilians, according to SANA. Israel accused
Turkey of building a "protectorate" after striking near a
Turkish-interested airbase. Reports suggest Israeli strikes
target preventing Turkey's "Steel Dome" air defense deployment.
Analysts say Turkey's Hisar, Siper, and Koral systems could
challenge Israeli air superiority, though Israel possesses
advanced countermeasures like F-35Is.

Israel’s government views Syrian territory as ‘fair game’
Israel doesn’t feel the need to justify these kinds of
military operations. Ever since the fall of the former Syrian
regime and even before that, Israel was carrying out air strikes
and going deep into Syrian territory.
For a year now, Israel has been occupying more and more Syrian
land, carrying out operations and detaining Syrian nationals,
taking them inside Israel.
In Israel itself, the latest operation is being described as
extraordinary – not because Syrians were killed, but because
Israeli soldiers were injured. There is criticism about the kind
of preparations that took place before such an operation, even
though the Israeli army admits it took weeks of preparation.
For now, the Israeli army and government treat Syrian territory
as fair game.
The Israeli prime minister was inside Syrian territory occupied
by Israel to make such a statement two weeks ago – that Israel
will stay in Syrian territory, that it is in no hurry to reach
an agreement with Damascus and that it will continue to operate
to serve its perceived security interests.

Syria calls Israeli incursion, strikes that killed 13 a ‘war
crime’
At least 13 people, including children, have been killed
and 25 were injured as Israel launched another incursion into
Syrian territory in the Damascus countryside, according to state
media, with several Israeli soldiers also reported wounded in
clashes.
