Why America Throws the Poor in Prison
--- Quote ---
> America built mass incarceration: the wholesale imprisonment
of entire populations. Why, exactly, are so many people in
prison – more than the entire population of New Mexico? That’s
our focus for this week’s video: how a crisis of capitalism
created a surplus population of former workers concentrated in
declining cities, and how politicians and capitalists – instead
of helping those people, and building a better and more just
economy – built a prison system larger than any other in the
history of the world to warehouse them. Chase Madar, professor
of law at NYU Gallatin, explains.

How Common Core Broke U.S. Schools
--- Quote ---
> First implemented in 2009, Common Core was an ambitious
initiative to revolutionize the American education system.
National leaders from Bill Gates to President Obama supported
the idea and it cost an estimated $15.8 billion to implement.
Years later, research showed the new curriculum had minimal
impact on student performance. So why did Common Core fail? Can
a common curriculum be successful for all students? Watch the
video to find out.

The HORRIFIC State of the American Empire
--- Quote ---
> Christopher Lynn Hedges (born September 18, 1956) is an
American Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Presbyterian
minister, author and television host. His books include War Is a
Force That Gives Us Meaning (2002), a finalist for the National
Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction; Empire of Illusion:
The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle (2009); Death
of the Liberal Class (2010); Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt
(2012), written with cartoonist Joe Sacco, which was a New York
Times best-seller; Wages of Rebellion: The Moral Imperative of
Revolt (2015); and his most recent, America: The Farewell Tour
(2018). Obey, a documentary by British filmmaker Temujin Doran,
is based on his book Death of the Liberal Class.[1]

> Hedges spent nearly two decades as a foreign correspondent in
Central America, West Asia, Africa, the Middle East (he is
fluent in Arabic), and the Balkans. He has reported from more
than fifty countries, and has worked for The Christian Science
Monitor, NPR, Dallas Morning News, and The New York Times,[2]
where he was a foreign correspondent for fifteen years
(1990–2005) serving as the paper's Middle East Bureau Chief and
Balkan Bureau Chief during the war in the former Yugoslavia.

attempt to fire the Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer, demand an end
to a series of unfair labor practices and the right to form a
union.[10] He hosts the Emmy-nominated program On Contact for
the RT (formerly Russia Today) television network.[11]

Not all anger is born out of irrationality. Anger, at times, can

U.S. Ranks DEAD LAST In Healthcare Among Rich Countries
--- Quote ---

You DO NOT need massive amounts of wealth to have a great
healthcare system at all, that is another illusion! What you
need is people in power who actually care, have a functional
mind, and whose number one priority isn't numero-uno and lining
their own pockets. The odds of you getting people like that into
power in a democracy is almost nil! Once in a blue-moon you may
get lucky!
This is the first time though I've heard the term "DEAD LAST"
when used to describe the U.S. healthcare system.
