school on Tuesday, her grandmother told the Daily Beast — but
her mom insisted that she go to class, as she only had a couple
of days left in the school year.

distraught that she didn’t let her daughter stay home. “That’s
what her mama was really upset about last night: ‘If only I had
let her stay home.’”

Gonzales. “She wanted to stay home with mama.”

Unfortunately, most parents think it is more important to send
their offspring to the institution that promises to turn them
into Westerners (and perhaps even into (*gasp*) Western
scientists!).

I was recently jumped from behind for no reason at all, knocked
to the ground, split my chin open on the concrete, and thought I
had broken several ribs. The three construction workers that
were literally a few feet away when the attack began, did
absolutely nothing for me. They must have just watched. An
almost similar attack happened to me in high-school, but with
two people assaulting me from behind. No one did anything for me
then either. Personally, I'm glad I never took U.S. citizenship,
and I want nothing more than to return to my home country once
my finances are sorted. Assaulting someone from behind,
especially for no good reason, is pure cowardice in my mind.
Cowardice seems to be a growing problem among Americans...
New York bearing signs of ‘societal decay’
--- Quote ---
> Footage showing cowardly train passengers in New York doing
nothing to stop an assault unfolding in front of them is a sign
of a civilisation in “serious decline,” Sky News host Rita
Panahi says.
>
> “Have a look at this footage from the subway in New York City
where a man in the white jacket and black leggings is rampaging
on a train,” she said.
>
> “Looks like there are plenty of able-bodied men around
watching.
>
> “He targets a woman, sits next to her and begins to assault
her.”
>
> Ms Panahi said “cowards” on the train simply watched the
terrified woman beg for help.
>
> “Nobody stepped in, nobody was interested beyond filming the
ordeal,” she said.
>
> “Thankfully, that woman was okay, and the assault did not end
in her being grievously injured.
>
> “The maniac went on to kick windows and terrify more
passengers.
>
> “What does it say about society that not a single man stepped
in to help – they allowed it to happen.”

left, or are dead...

American cities, states can't find enough workers despite an
influx of federal funding
--- Quote ---
> The number of Americans filing for unemployment fell to
250,000 last week, dipping for the first time in three weeks.
But as students across the country return to school, many
districts are facing staff shortages. State and local
governments are severely understaffed, affecting not only
education but almost every service they provide, from trash
pickup to policing. Catherine Rampell has the story.

This problem is primarily created by capitalism and the
corporations, often international, that arise from it.
Capitalists teach people that unnecessary work and business is
okay as long as there is profit to be made from such business.
The profit margin is all that really matters at the end of the
day in the capitalist worldview. Obviously, with 8 billion
human-beings on the planet, a business being able to sell a
gadget to 1 million people via marketing strategies, does not
equate to said gadget being a necessary, or important,
invention. Yet, in the capitalist world, people would rather
work in unnecessary professions that create not-needed gadgets
and services, because this is more profitable to them, often via
aggressive marketing and psychological manipulation, than doing
work that is actually needed. Ultimately this mentality results
in a very egotistical and selfish society. In a fair system the
jobs that no one really wants to do, but that must be done in
order for society to function on a day by day basis, would be
some of the most highly paid jobs in society. Garbage men and
teachers come to mind...
The capitalist solution to these problems is to build robots to
do all of societies menial tasks for human-beings, so that more
people are free to work professions that are unnecessary to
society in the big picture, yet are more profitable via
psychological manipulation through marketing, even if the
gadgets and services these unnecessary professions create
pollute the environment and life in general beyond repair.
What is truly disgusting and despicable about this worldview is
that capitalists use media and entertainment to constantly
remind the masse's how important their unnecessary businesses
and ideas truly are to the rest of humanity.

Why The U.S. Military Faces A Growing Recruiting Crisis
--- Quote ---
> The U.S. military is facing uncertain waters: A diminishing
pool of eligible applicants, low unemployment and the public's
fading trust in the institution have made recruiting much harder
then in previous years. The Army has been especially hard-hit by
these issues, and currently faces a massive recruiting
shortfall. What can the various branches do to make the military
a attractive job option for young Americans?
>
> "The Army has to recognize that there's been an evolution in
that young population," said U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif,
chair of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. "And if you're
going to target that young population for service, you've got to
make it appealing to them."
>
> Of all the military branches, the U.S. Army is running into
the most difficulty this fiscal year in bringing in recruits.
The other services should manage to hit their goals, according
to Stars and Stripes, but underlying issues continue to make
recruiting a difficult endeavor.
>
> Watch the video above to find out more about the challenges
the U.S. military face in trying to fix the growing recruiting
crisis.
