True cost of US healthcare shocks the British public

The birth of your child costs you £0 in medical bills. In the
USA, it's a different story.

to pay for simple medical services in America, and what they
think about the NHS - an all too valuable asset during the
coronavirus pandemic.

Judging from the commentary to this video alone I'd say there's
a lot of people in high places in U.S. society that deserve to

The fentanyl drug epidemic in North America
--- Quote ---
> The world is fighting a deadly pandemic, but over in North
America another heartbreaking public health crisis is still
raging. A synthetic drug is killing more people than gun crime,
homicide and car accidents combined.
>
> One hundred times stronger than heroin, the opioid fentanyl is
cheap, potent and can be sent through the post. These market
forces have seen it replacing heroin and causing unprecedented
death, destruction and misery. The death toll has
disproportionately affected the homeless and already
marginalized. Now, due to its strength and low cost, the drug is
also starting to be mixed into party drugs, such as cocaine and
cannabis - with fatal results. The documentary travels to
Vancouver, the epicenter of the fentanyl epidemic to meet with
health care workers, activists, fentanyl dealers and addicts. It
shows some of the radical initiatives fighting the abuse of this
drug, and asks what the world could face if the fentanyl
epidemic spreads outside of North America.

America's Two-Party Corporate Duopoly

are. Democratic and Republican voters are more divided than

parties, and consider whether trying to build a competitive
third party would make a difference.

What Do Americans Think of ‘Socialized’ Medicine? | NowThis
--- Quote ---
> ‘If everybody has something for free, who’s gonna pay for it?’

about socialized health care.
--- End Quote ---
--- Quote ---
> In US news and current events today, NowThis News hit the
streets of New York to ask everyday Americans about the
universal health care debate. A recent video featuring British
people commenting on the health care system in America went
viral, consider this video the answer. These people gave their
thoughts on private healthcare vs public health care. Thanks to
the Affordable Care Act, health insurance is more available in
the U.S., but without a public health care or National health
care system like the U.K. or Canada, many people in the U.S.
will still be uninsured and at risk.

How Germany's Universal Health-Care System Works
--- Quote ---
> Germany’s health-care system spends nearly half as much as the
United States but still manages to cover 100% of its population
through a mix of public and private insurance schemes. There are
two different systems that residents can turn to for insurance
in Germany: SHI, which stands for Statutory Health Insurance and
PHI or Private Health Insurance. Here’s how they work.

How Canada's Universal Health-Care System Works
--- Quote ---
> Canada's health-care system is playing a larger role in
America's political discourse as the 2020 presidential elections
heat up. Progressives on the left love pointing to Canada as an
equitable and efficient health care system. Conservatives use
Canada as an example when warning about the dangers of
socialized medicine and unchecked bureaucracy. So how exactly is
medicare working in Canada and how does it compare to the United
States?

How French Health Care Compares To The US System
--- Quote ---
> France's health-care system, which is called "social
security," has been globally recognized for overall quality. In
a 2000 report, the World Health Organization ranked it the best
national health-care system in the world.
>
> As Democrats push a government-funded health care and
President Donald Trump campaigns on repealing Obamacare without
a clear alternative, Health care has become a major focus of the
2020 elections. Many Americans are considering what kind of
health care system they may want.
>
> “Medicare for All” has become a mantra among the
left-of-center Democrats, with most of their plans calling for a
universal single-payer health-care system, closely modeled after
Canada’s health-care system. But there’s another national
health-care system that’s worth paying attention to: France’s.
>

rate of rehospitalization between France and the United States.
The difference is 5.3 percentage points lower, not 5.3% lower.

Capitalism And The American Pandemic Response
--- Quote ---
> This video is a major departure from the usual content on my
channel, but I think it's necessary. This particular moment in
American and world history demands that we all take an honest
look at the trajectory of the United States of America. The
current system is untenable and the Coronavirus pandemic has
laid bare how truly ill-prepared the country is to protect its
citizens. When corporations and the ultra-wealthy are the
primary concern of those in power, the majority will suffer.
This video is my attempt to contribute some small amount to the
national conversation about what America is, and what it needs
to become.

America's Stunted Political Spectrum

Interestingly, that's one of the first things my step-father
said about U.S. politics when we first moved here in 1989, that
being that "There is no left in American politics!". Which is
why I have always laughed at U.S. right-wingers when they
attempt to insult 'the left', most of them don't even know
anything about the left other than the fact that they are
supposed to be against it. I suspect this is one of the reasons
many people who visit the U.S. usually say things like,
"Americans aren't very bright", and other things along those
lines when asked what they think about the American people.
Really sad!
