They are still alive. Therefore they are still dangerous. I warn
against declaring victory prematurely. The only correct way to
deal with rightists is with total ruthlessness.

While this may be true, it should not be necessary in the first
place to defend China by showing that China operates according
to Western standards of acceptability. On the contrary, I hope
China can one day become confident enough to dispense with
Western notions such as "human rights" altogether:

Joephy Chan speaks out at the UN HR Council on behalf of
Hongkong-ers whose voices have been stifled in the western press
As more and more is being exposed about the truth of what really
happened in Hong Kong during the 2019-2020 riots, the fact that
movements of a similar fashion (apparently instigated and
covertly organized by CIA-related units) have subsequently
erupted first in Thailand and then in Myanmar has given me a
clue on what they meant. They might appear to be local
demonstrations, riots, insurgencies whatever you may like to
call them, but they are all part and parcel of one big scheme to
contain the rise of China.
- The HK fiasco was clearly aimed at shaming China's One
Country Two Systems policy as well as eventually toppling the HK
government so western influence could more blatantly infiltrate
into the Special Administrative Region to wreak havoc for the
Chinese Central Government.
- Both Thailand and Myanmar lie on the route of the South Silk
Road that has a large project presently under construction
regarding a passage from Yunnan all the way to the Indian Ocean.
If not jeopardized, the completion of this project would mean
redundancy of the current sea route via the South China Sea and
the Strait of Malacca, a trade route which is now being tempered
by US naval surveillance and interference. Wreaking havoc in
Thailand and Myanmar at this crucial time may procrastinate or
even stall the entire project (should there be civil war) and
land China in disarray.

This extract from an hour-long documentary on Tibet reveals some
very sinister aspects of its socio-political system (prior to
becoming an autonomous region of the PRC) which are hardly ever
mentioned in western writings/reports and for obvious reasons.
The image of Tibet's now self-exiled theocratic leader would
never have rallied so much international support if it'd be
known that the Tibet under his rule was still one espousing the
practice of serfdom where the serfs (90% of the population)
lived under extreme hardship and subjected to sadistic torture
when accused of wrongdoings by their masters (10% of the
population mainly landowners, religious/political personnel
etc).
It beggars my belief that the 14th Dalai who was then in power
could not only tolerate such a system but also personally keep
tankas made from human skins (deskinned from serfs while still
alive as punishment) and religious ornaments made from human
scalps some of which were later offered as gifts to the western
powers (can still be found in some museums).
It must be noted that as early as 1840 while the British grabbed
Hong Kong after the Opium War, they also attempted to take Tibet
but failed. Ever since then, they have relentlessly tried to
'secure independence for the Tibetans'. The documentary compares
this to HK, which the British had to repatriate to China in 1997
but which they have never actually let go, covertly instigating
HK independence from China after having laid down 'democratic'
changes in the HK system just before they moved out.
