       "cheesy"
       This is a False Left concept based on jadedness, and works by
       dismissing all sentimentalism as melodrama. By merely mocking
       the (presumed excessive) intensity at which rightist emotions
       are expressed, it gives itself an excuse to avoid tackling the
       real problem of invalidating the rightist emotions themselves.
       And this cynicism, once normalized, by the same token makes it
       hard for False Leftists to be impressed by True Left
       sentimentalism. Romanticism is necessarily "cheesy" just by
       being earnest and not self-conscious. The True Leftist is the
       one who can say there is nothing wrong with that, and embrace
       romanticism anyway. The False Leftist is the one who, fearing
       the label, retreats from taking the plunge.

       You should really try to. Only then can you see the world
       through our enemies' eyes, which is if nothing else useful when
       fighting against them.

       Wait, that doesn't make sense if I'm an alien in the
       hypothetical scenario. I mean, I would do it even if I was a
       human. (which I'm not ;))
