Lithuania 'ready' for Moscow RETALIATION over EU blockade of
Kaliningrad
--- Quote ---
> Lithuania is 'prepared' if Russia disconnects it from the
regional power grid in retaliation for blocking rail shipments
of some Russian goods to Moscow's Kaliningrad exclave the
president said on Wednesday.
>
> He spoke after the Kremlin warned Lithuania on Tuesday, that
Moscow would respond to the ban on the transit of goods
sanctioned by the EU to Kaliningrad in such a way that citizens
of the Baltic state would feel the pain.
>
> With relations between Moscow and the West at a half-century
low over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Lithuania banned the
transit of goods sanctioned by the European Union across its
territory to and from Kaliningrad, citing EU sanction rules.
>
> Kaliningrad is sandwiched between NATO members Poland and
Lithuania and supplied by rail via the territory of Lithuania.
>
> Lithuania shut the route for transport of steel and other
ferrous metals from mainland Russia on Saturday (June 18) saying
it had to do so under EU sanctions that took effect that day.
>
> "We are ready and we are prepared for unfriendly actions from
Russia (in response), such as disconnection from the BRELL
(power grid) system, or others," Lithuanian President Gitanas
Nauseda said.
>
> Thirty years after seceding from the then-Soviet Union and 17
years since joining the EU, Baltic states Lithuania, Latvia and
Estonia still depend on Russia for stable power supplies.
>
> However, Lithuania installed equipment on its power link to
Poland last year to connect with the continental European grid
quickly as an insurance policy in case Russia cuts off the flow
of electricity, potentially causing blackouts.
>
> Nauseda said Lithuania's status as a member of NATO meant
Russia would not "challenge us in military sense".
>
> He also said Lithuania will be expanding the list of goods it
bars from reaching Kaliningrad, as phase-in periods for the EU
sanctions are reached.
>
> If the European Commission explained the content of sanctions
to Russia "it could remove some of the current tensions" he
added.

If the EU had its own military, it could do more than just tell:

Telling doesn't work. WMDs work. The only thing that will ever
stop initiated violence is retaliatory violence.

EU officials implicated in leak of Uber's ruthless growth
tactics | DW News
--- Quote ---
> A joint investigation by DW and more than 40 media outlets has
revealed how Uber aggressively lobbied governments and
potentially even skirted some laws as it expanded its
ride-sharing service.
> A trove of leaked documents suggests Uber hid information from
investigators in the Netherlands by remotely killing internal
devices in its Amsterdam office. It also details the close
relationship between Uber and then French Economy Minister
Emmanuel Macron at a time when the company was trying to avoid
French regulations. Macron gave the company direct access to his
staff.

Weak Euro falls to lowest in 20 years, hitting parity with US
dollar | DW News
--- Quote ---
> The Euro has hit parity with the US Dollar - a first in over
20 years.
>
> The exchange rate between the two currencies is now just one
cent apart. The Euro has been particularly vulnerable due to the
war in Ukraine and rising gas prices. But today's fall marks the
weakest the Euro has been since 2001. And it is raising fears of
a recession in Europe.

Hypocritical Germany is being brought to its knees

more than five minutes in the shower – or even urged to share a
bath with a friend? That’s what’s happening in Germany, where
energy rationing now looks inevitable. The crisis caused by
Berlin’s dependence on Russian gas and oil makes our own cost of
living crisis pale by comparison....

State control over reproduction could have solved most of the
problems Westerners face present day, and the rest of the world
as well. But, this is not supported by the Western
anthropocentric mindset...

I strongly support EU (and Schengen) membership for Georgia. It
would enable refugees to initially travel overland to Georgia
from Turkey, get citizenship and then fly to other EU countries:
