HTML https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10091175/Priti-Patel-plans-grant-officers-immunity-Channel-migrants-drown-turnback-operation.html
Priti Patel plans to grant Border Force officers immunity
from prosecution if Channel migrants DROWN during new 'turnback'
operation
...
Priti Patel is planning to grant Border Force officers immunity
from prosecution if migrants die during her operation to 'turn
back' small boats crossing the Channel, it has been reported.
The Home Secretary has previously approved the plan which would
see migrants boats intercepted and turned back to France by
officers on jet skis.
Currently, sailors are obliged to rescue 'a person in distress
at sea' under international maritime laws and failure to do so
could result in up to two years in prison.
But the government is trying to pass the Nationality and and
Borders Bill through Parliament, which would give Border Force
officials immunity from prosecution during the 'turnback'
operations.
The plans have been criticised by opposition MPs, and charities,
while France has branded the tactics 'illegal'.
Labour's Shadow Home Secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds said they
were 'unconscionable' and 'unnecessary', The Times reports.
...
Kim Bryan, from the charity, told BBC Breakfast on Sunday that
in the last two weeks her group had spotted, from the cliffs of
Dover, Border Force officials practising a pushback using
jet-skis.
Miss Patel has threatened to turn boats around and send them
back to Europe as part of her 'pushback' plan.
However, French politicians branded the Home Secretary a
'clown', while Mr Darmanin claimed any action to send migrant
boats back would be illegal.
Pushbacks are illegal (and, in our worldview, initiated
violence), period.
Ms Bryan told BBC Breakfast on Sunday: 'What they seem to
be doing is pushing the boat from the stern and from the bow,
and I guess the idea is they're going to push them back into
French waters.
'These boats are incredibly flimsy. Just the wash from jet-skis
going around them in the first place could cause them to
capsize. What we will be seeing, then, if this starts happening,
is tragedy. The consequences are going to be horrific.
'I think it's entirely unsafe, entirely impractical for Priti
Patel to suggest that we do pushbacks in the Channel.'
So will someone drown Patel first? If not, it will be the
innocent refugees who drown.
About Patel:
HTML https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priti_Patel
Patel was critical of the UK's decision to invest DFID
funds to support the Palestinian territories through UN agencies
and the Palestinian Authority. In October 2016, she ordered a
review of the funding procedure, temporarily freezing
approximately a third of Britain's aid to the Palestinians
during the review. In December 2016, DFID announced significant
changes concerning future funding for the Palestinian Authority.
DFID stated that future aid would go "solely to vital health and
education services, in order to meet the immediate needs of the
Palestinian people and maximise value for money." This move was
widely supported by Jewish groups, including the Jewish
Leadership Council and the Zionist Federation.[52][53]
...
Meetings with Israeli officials and resignation
On 3 November 2017, the BBC's Diplomatic correspondent James
Landale broke the news that Patel had held meetings in Israel in
August 2017 without telling the Foreign Office. She was
accompanied by Lord Polak, honorary president of Conservative
Friends of Israel (CFI). The meetings, up to a dozen in number,
took place while Patel was on a "private holiday". Patel met
Yair Lapid, the leader of Israel's centrist Yesh Atid party, and
reportedly made visits to several organisations where official
departmental business was discussed. The BBC reported that
"According to one source, at least one of the meetings was held
at the suggestion of the Israeli ambassador to London. In
contrast, British diplomats in Israel were not informed about Ms
Patel's plans."[56]
It was also reported that, following the meetings, Patel had
recommended that the Department for International Development
give international aid money to field hospitals run by the
Israeli army in the Golan Heights.
...
Black Lives Matter and anti-racism protests
In June 2020, Patel urged the public not to partake in the UK
protests brought along by the murder of George Floyd in the
United States, due to the coronavirus outbreak.[93] She
criticised Black Lives Matter demonstrators in Bristol for
toppling the statue of Edward Colston,[94] calling it "utterly
disgraceful".[95] In February 2021, she described the Black
Lives Matter protests that occurred in the UK in 2020 as
"dreadful" and said she did not agree with the gesture of taking
the knee.[96]
In June 2021, Patel criticised the England national football
team for kneeling against racism before their Euro 2020 games,
describing it as "gesture politics". She further said that
spectators had the "choice" to boo the players for doing so.[97]
...
Extinction Rebellion protests
In September 2020, in a speech at the annual conference of the
Police Superintendents' Association, Patel described Extinction
Rebellion protesters as "so-called eco-crusaders turned
criminals" and said Extinction Rebellion was an "emerging
threat"
...
Patel has vowed to make the Channel "unviable" for migrant
boats.[108]
Asylum seekers
In September 2020 Patel asked officials to look at asylum
policies which had been successful in other countries. It was
suggested that Ascension Island, more than 4,000 miles (6,400
km) from the UK, could be used to build an asylum processing
centre. Labour's shadow home secretary Nick Thomas-Symonds said:
"This ludicrous idea is inhumane, completely impractical and
wildly expensive - so it seems entirely plausible this Tory
government came up with it."[109]
...
In June 2021, a High Court judge ruled that the Home Office
acted unlawfully by housing asylum seekers in an "unsafe" and
"squalid" former army barracks. The judge found that the Home
Office failed to look after vulnerable people and noted that a
lack of safety measures had contributed to a "significant" risk
of injury and death from fires or from coronavirus.[113][114]
...
She previously served as a vice-chair of Conservative Friends of
Israel.[131][132]
Helpful comment:
For everyone wondering what the hell that was, it was Soh
Cah Toa- it's how you figure out the angle degree or side length
from a right triangle. Soh = Sin of opposite side × hypotenuse,
Cah = Cosign of adjacent × Hypotenuse, Toa = Tangent of opposite
side × Adjacent side.
But yeah, that's pretty racist
I hardly need to add that there is no evidence that trigonometry
was used in the New World prior to the colonial era, so her skit
is not even defensible from a historical perspective. If the
teacher merely wanted her pupils to remember the trigonometric
functions, why not cosplay as Hipparchus while doing the exact
same chant? (We all know why not.)

It's OK for Burr to be "white":

More about Burr:
HTML https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Burr
Burr does not accept the scientific consensus on climate
change; he acknowledges that climate change is occurring, but
has expressed doubt that it is caused by human
activity.[29][42][43] He opposes regulations to limit greenhouse
gas emissions, and opposed federal grants or subsidies to
encourage the productions of renewable energy.[29] In 2015, he
voted against a measure to declare that climate change is real,
human-caused, creating problems, and that the U.S. must shift
from fossil fuels to sustainable energy.[44][45] In 2013, Burr
voted for a measure expressing opposition to a federal tax or
fee on carbon emissions.[46] He voted in favor of the Keystone
XL pipeline.[47]
...
In 2017, Burr co-sponsored the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (s. 720),
which would make it a federal crime for Americans to encourage
or participate in boycotts against Israel and Israeli
settlements in the West Bank if protesting actions by the
Israeli government.[55][56]
...
In 2016, Burr and other Republican Senators opposed holding
hearings on President Obama's nomination of Judge Merrick
Garland to a vacancy on the Supreme Court of the United States,
and refused to have a customary meeting with Garland.[100] He
said that if Hillary Clinton were elected president, he would
try to block her from ever filling the vacancy, saying that if
Clinton won, "I am going to do everything I can do to make sure
four years from now, we still got an opening on the Supreme
Court."[66][101] Burr voted to confirm Trump's Supreme Court
nominees Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh,[26] issuing a
statement in favor of Kavanaugh's nomination two days before the
testimony of Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of
sexually assaulting her while in high school,[102][103] and
indicating he would support Kavanaugh's confirmation regardless
of the hearing.[102]
...
Burr was a national security adviser to the Trump campaign.[53]
He stated that Trump "aligns perfectly" with the Republican
Party.
...
During Trump's first impeachment trial, Burr said he would
oppose removing Trump from office even if a quid pro quo was
confirmed.[114] He opposed calling Trump's former National
Security Adviser John Bolton as a witness at the Senate trial;
Bolton had written that Trump had tied U.S. security aid to
Ukraine to the country's taking action against Biden.[114] Burr
voted to acquit Trump on the two charges of obstruction of
Congress and abuse of power.[26]
...
On May 28, 2021, Burr abstained from voting on the creation of
an independent commission to investigate the 2021 United States
Capitol attack.[136]
