Double XL: Why toxic fat shaming is so rampant in
India
Aryan blood memory, perhaps?
In a Malayalam-language post, Education Minister V
Sivankutty gave his own example of being body shamed.
He wrote that a few days back, when he shared a picture of some
students taking a selfie with him, a person commented that "you
should reduce your stomach a little bit".
In his reply to the comment, the minister called body shaming "a
heinous practice".
"Body shaming is the worst, no matter what the explanation. This
is happening in our society on so many levels. There are many
among us who have been victims of body shaming and even suffered
mentally," he wrote.
"We need to end body shaming. Let's be modern people," he
added.
No, let's not be modern people:
HTML https://trueleft.createaforum.com/true-left-vs-false-left/leftists-against-progressivism/
I will now face-shame him also:
HTML https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/1458687527590641667/foj3JK34_400x400.jpg
The minister's comments and a recent Bollywood film,
Double XL, have put the spotlight on fat shaming in India where
people are routinely insulted for their physical appearance.
The film starred popular actresses Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi
Sinha who have both talked about being body shamed in the past.
Sinha was trolled on social media for her weight and, in her
early days, Qureshi was written off by critics who believed "she
was 5kg too heavy to be a heroine".
I will face-shame them as well:
[img width=1280
height=1060]
HTML https://i0.wp.com/www.socialnews.xyz/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/01/d63e8aa9ff8836ef43f9221bc205be41.jpg?quality=80&zoom=1&ssl=1[/img]
Critics say India's popular Hindi film industry which
influences and moulds public opinion is partly to blame for the
notion that fat is foul and slim is beautiful.
They should keep promoting this notion.
Mr Ramani says "it's alright if people want to be size
zero because they want to look a certain way, but it's not an
idea that should be imposed on others".
I do not advocate forcing anyone to lose weight. I simply
advocate public transport tickets etc. be scaled in price
according to passenger weight. The current practice of ignoring
weight in calculating prices for services is unfair to lighter
people. Fundamentally, heavier people take up more space and/or
waste more energy whatever public service they are using. Why
should they not have to pay extra? How is it fair that lighter
people (who themselves already take up less space and waste less
energy) have to subsidize heavier people?
Through his film, he says, he wants to tell people that
"accept that you are beautiful, whatever your shape or size or
skin colour"
If everyone is "beautiful", "beauty" means nothing. What people
really need to accept is that most people are ugly, and lying to
them about this just makes things worse. Only after we agree
that most people are ugly can we properly begin to discuss which
small fraction can be called beautiful, in other words what
standard of beauty should be adopted.
t's a topic Harnidh Kaur, a plus-size poet and writer who
works at an Indian unicorn, routinely raises in her columns and
on social media.
Fat shaming, she says, is rampant because "most Indians have no
idea about boundaries and in our families everyone comments on
everyone else's appearance"
There is nothing wrong with commenting on others' appearance. I
will now face-shame her also:
HTML https://i.ytimg.com/vi/DNGqYcbntUE/maxresdefault.jpg
men on dating apps who suggested working out together
because "you'd look really pretty once you're thinner".
Actually, her face shape would still be the same. The problem is
not commenting on others' appearance; it is commenting with
absurdly low standards.

Nothing but good calls from Qatar recently:
HTML https://www.businessinsider.com/plus-size-model-says-qatar-airways-blocked-flight-too-fat-2022-11
A plus-size model said she was not allowed to board a
Qatar Airways flight because she was too fat to fit in an
economy seat, but the airline said she had been "extremely rude
and aggressive" to check-in staff.
Juliana Nehme, a model and influencer, said in an Instagram post
that she was not allowed to board a flight from Beirut to Doha
after a holiday in Lebanon with family.
...
However, the spokesperson did indicate that passengers could be
asked to purchase an extra seat if they could not fit adequately
into one.
"Qatar Airways treats all passengers with respect and dignity
and in line with industry practices and similar to most
airlines, anyone who impedes upon the space of a fellow
traveller and cannot secure their seatbelt or lower their
armrests may be required to purchase an additional seat both as
a safety precaution and for the comfort and safety of all
passengers."
This is Nehme:

Fat-shaming sometimes even improves the gene pool:
HTML https://www.yahoo.com/news/baseball-phenom-13-dies-suicide-091254899.html
Baseball phenom, 13, dies by suicide. He came home from
school, left video: 'I hate my life'
...
Terry was a baseball phenom. There had been talk in Covington
about moving Terry up to the varsity team this spring as a
seventh grader, said his grandpa, the eldest Terry Badger. He
was a third baseman and pitcher who could throw 71 miles an hour
and who batted .400 last season, including a home run that
sailed more than 300 feet.
Terry had 27 home runs in his career. He signed and saved every
one of those balls. He had too many championship trophies to
count, too many to fit on the shelves in his bedroom. Terry was
looking forward to the upcoming season playing for Indiana Nitro
Gold, the top travel team in the Westfield organization's 13U
age division.
...
Terry loved to set minnow traps
...
Terry was 5-3 and weighed 150 pounds. He and his dad had
recently started lifting together and "you could see the chisel
and the chest starting to form," Badger said, "just a solid
chunk of boy."
That's not what the kids who bullied Terry called him. They
called him a "fatass," his parents say.
...
Terry loved to hunt deer. He got an 8-point buck with a crossbow
this season. He loved to hunt squirrels, mushrooms and wanted to
hunt coyotes. He loved to fish. He still holds the family
record, a 41-pound catfish.

"Terry loved to set minnow traps"
"Terry loved to hunt deer."
"dies by suicide"
This is what's up with humanistic people. They get sad over a
human's suicide (like the third quote I mentioned) even though
they CONSENTED, but don't say anything about an animal's
slaughter (like the first two quotes I mentioned) even though
they DIDN'T consent. Reveals that most people aren't against
death. They're against consent.

To be clear, while eating more than one needs to is wasteful and
hence a bad habit, on the other hand it at least exposes those
whose metabolism causes them to gain weight from eating and thus
makes it easier for us to know whom to prohibit from
reproducing. Our job would actually be harder if they ate less,
as it could cause non-ectomorphs who become thin from eating
less to be mistaken for ectomorphs!

Yes. Over here:
HTML https://trueleft.createaforum.com/counterculture-era/is-counterculture-still-alive/msg18964/#msg18964
I was telling HikariDude about Cheng who is famous for being
thin:

HTML http://p3.toutiaoimg.com/large/pgc-image/5536609db08d47ea87b0dcbb16f39c67?from=detail&index=2[/img]
She achieves her thinness by dieting
It would be easy to mistake her for an ectomorph going only by
her usual appearance. Yet this is what she looked like before
she was famous:
HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9QHPXj77Ng
Moral: watch out for the skeletally gracile non-ectomorphs who
use effort to become thin!
But at least Cheng is willing to parody herself:
