       The last one?

       Hi All
I've been told this could be the last Trophex, does anybody have
any idea if this is true?

First that I have heard about it Adam but I do not value
Trophex in it's present form, so I would hope that it is the
       last one.
We would like to attend Trophex but the trouble is that it is
only a few days away from the Spring Fair where we visit Five
relevant Halls. We cannot then justify another four hours round
trip to visit just one hall for Trophex.
You will find that the majority of the South Coast and the
majority of business north of Harrogate, (including the whole of
Scotland), will just not make the trip.
Also a high percentage of exhibitors at Trophex plus equally
as relevant trades are currently also showing at The Spring Fair
so we can catch up with them there.
eg. Travis Wilson, Pinders, PA Roast, English Pewter, Swartons,
DRH, Crystal Galleries, LSA, Widdop, Salome, Zippo....
My suggestion would be two annual Trophex Shows, one in the
Harrogate area and one in the Swindon area. Even though
exhibitors would have two set-up costs they would actually save
a fortune against the current exorbitant NEC costs. These two
shows could be held at two convenient Hotels or school halls and
the attendance would be TRIPLE the current amount of visitors.
I have made this point to many reps over the years but nobody
appears capable of doing the math. Apart from excuses there is
no other practical argument that makes business and economic
       sense.
If it adds up for you (the reader) then maybe you might like
       speak to Trophex about it

I will be there this year along with a new member of staff. It
will be a good opportunity to show him around the scene and
introduce him to a few people. I have not heard if this is the
last one or not, but it seems to have got steadily smaller. I
see from the exhibitor floor plan that that Glenway have again
got the biggest pitch, how many will be speaking to them and
       placing orders though? We wont!
       Who else is visiting?

I don't go every year, but in the 18 years I have been involved
in the trophy industry, the trophex show has declined year on
year. I believe, that trophex was originally part of the spring
fair, so perhaps it is time for it to return?

I rarely attend in recent years after bumping into former
customers of mine with catalogues under thier arms !!
This recent Glenway saga just adds to my of the distrust of a
number of the suppliers who will deal with just about anyone
       :-(

Have to agree, too many non 'real' retailers get into this
       supposed 'Trade Show'.
Trend invited us over to their premises a couple of years ago,
and we found that much more beneficial and much more personal -
have increased our purchasing with them since then.

I've tended to attend Trophex every 2 years or so in recent
times, and having been for both of the last 2 years, I wasn't
planning to go this year - not least because it's a 300 mile
       round trip for me.
Having fully caught up with the detail of, and strength of trade
opinion regarding 'the Glenway situation', I have decided that I
shall definitely be going this year after all.

Re regional shows this was tried around 20 years ago with a
Northern venue at Blackpool and a Southern venue at Sandown
Racecourse. I went to both shows they were reasonably well
attended by exhibitors and Retailers but not well enough to
repeat. In those days there were many more trophy shops and many
more suppliers If it did not work then it would be unlikely to
work now. I also have seen former customers at Trophex and I
also know who supplied them but that's addressed on another
forum. Going forward the Spring Fair will most probably be the
main event with individual suppliers having open days.

       This is classic “fake news”.
As the organiser of Trophex I can state that the NEC is already
       booked for 2019.
My company has organised this show since buying Trophex from the
committee of exhibitors who organised the shows up to 1993 when
the show was split between the Motorcycle Museum and Sandown
Racecourse. We continued this for a couple of years until the
main exhibitors asked for one larger national show at the
National Exhibition Centre. This move was followed by the
wholesalers and others no longer exhibiting at the Spring Fair.
We have also organised the Eurotrophex show in Holland since
1995. It is moving to Berlin this year reflecting the growth in
the Central and Eastern European market.
We do constantly monitor comments from exhibitors and visitors
alike. Far from declining, the show has consistently attracted
       greater support each year.
It would be very interesting to find out where this fake news
came from! I look forward to seeing you at Trophex from Sunday
and for many years to come.
