Let's get the ball rolling on how this is going to affect us and
how we are going to proceed.

Well done on getting this set up, good idea with the potential
changes about to happen with Glenway setting up a retail
       website.
It's a huge concern for us here at Aford Awards as they will be
now competing in the same retail space as us. We spend a lot of
money with them each year and am surprised they now want to try
and compete with us. In my opinion you are either trade or
       retail, you cant do both.

I agree Jon. It is a total surprise. Very disappointed on how
they have gone about this. Would really like other retailers
       opinion about this.

Just simply using current retailers to grow their own database
further to meet long term goals.
It's all a bit naught really, you're either trade or retail.

Have to agree with you on this - this is opening the whole
industry up to any 'bedroom' retailer. This is our 40th year in
this trade and we feel this is a very worrying situation.

Hi all agree with most comments. I think this has been on the
horizon for a while. Answer is simple dont use them . I dont
like the thought of them getting hold of my customer contact
details and eventually going to them directly.
Agree that it helps the bedroom/dragons den/apprentice
entrepreneur who think this trade is easy to "have a go".

When you have Retailers short circuiting the supply chain by
going direct to manufacturers (Mainly Chinese) you shouldn't be
surprised if Wholesalers are seduced by the notion of direct
selling. I agree totally that it is wrong but in the world of
the Internet it was I fear, inevitable that someone would break
ranks and try to steal a march on their competitiors. I have no
doubt that the English Pewter example encouraged the move.
There is only one way to combat this and that is for every
retailer to boycott Glenway. (And to stop going direct to China)
If we don't, then the other wholesalers will feel they have no
       alternative but to follow ....
Sadly I don't think this will happen so If anyone out there
       would like to own Trophycentre.com ...give me a shout ! ;D ;)

       Hi All,
I have managed Joblot-Trophies & Gifts in Nottingham for ten
years now, the company have used Glenway since they started, it
is now my life too, I am hoping all of the changes to Glenways'
trading will become clear at the next Trophex event in January.
Giving us all a better idea of what their plans for the future
are and how it will effect us their loyal customers.
       Kind Regards,
       Scott Carlin
       Manager

I agree with all the above comments. A collective approach is
the only possible move, or it simply won't be effective.

Along with setting this up, we see from their 'new pack' that
they are now telling us all what we should be charging for
engraving as well - not happy with being told what we should and
shouldn't charge for our engraving services.
