As Salaam Alaikum sisters.
I've posted this on the Discord forum, but will pop it here too.
It's nice to try to keep this open, get sisters talking to each
other.
Copied and pasted from my Discord Channel post...
Sisters, one of the things I found hard when first exploring the
path to Islam, was music. I've always loved listening to music.
Not a great taste in music, Motown, pop, love Taylor Swift and
Ariana, love American Country female singers. Shania Twain!
However, when I first explored Islam, a male Muslim who became a
friend helping me on my path, said it was unwholesome to listen
to such music. And I should not listen to it any more. So I
would sit working in silence. Or listen to some of the Islamic
podcasts. I've found a Arabian (Yemeni) singer i like called
Balqees. It may not sound like much, but has anyone else had
similar struggles?
Shukran.

As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
I have thought a little about this topic Ukhti.
Now I will give it more thought. However, I think you should
remember that we cannot instantly change decades of
socialisation overnight. That you are working towards His will
is everything. Do not be too hard on yourself. He is all seeing
and all knowing. Your daily improvements are noted.
Allahu Akbar,
Halima.
