what should i be looking to pay?

Im considering buying a casting reel, what sort of price should
I be looking to pay for a half decent one? or would it be better
to get one of my reels modded for casting?
Would have to pay someone to do the work for me if I used one of
my reels as im totally useless at diy sort of jobs lol
which option would be best and cheapest?
Thanks
Luke

I would see if I could buy one ready to use.
There is a nice group on Facebook, where tournament reels and
parts are sold.
Search for tournament casting reels, then you should find it.
You should be able to find something there.
I do have a 6500 green mag elite converted to monomag, but guess
postage would be an issue :o

It really depends whats been done to it etc. Do you want an
after market cage/frame too? QTC/ZETA/ROCKET REEL. If so for a
6500 you would typically be looking £140+ used or up to an over
200 if it has a fancy spool.and handle etc too.
If you are happy with a standard flat bar style abu cage you
could get a decent casting reel for around £80 with monomag
fitted.
Or if you want to go the DIY route (one of my best reels I built
for around £60), get a used reel off ebay. A new set of bearings
(£15), speed bullet (£5 to replace nylon clicker cog),
aftermarket monomag (£20). You say you are not too DIY'ish. All
you really need to do in most cases is drill an 8mm hole in a
sideplate I done a video on it. See below.
A good starter reel only needs to have a well balanced spool and
a good set of bearings.
If you are new to multipliers the reels with 4 slot pinions and
6 brake blocks can be handy to add extra braking in the learner
stages until you get a smooth style.

PS If you are in the UK I would be happy to fit a monomag, new
bearings and speed bullet and balance spool at cost price only
say 40 quid approx if you wanted one of your existing reels
modified.

The akios mm3 tourno range arent bad 555, 656 and 666 too.
One piece cage fancy bearings and monomag fitted as standard.
These can be got new for around £230 but you could prob pick up
a used one for £120 or less.

PS Also I may add if you keep reels in good nick they will hold
their price fairly well. Im always buying new reels then selling
them on.

Thanks for info stevie, not new to multies, been using them for
years! I have 7 at the moment as have sold a few recently,
thanks for the offer of doing one of my reels for me, I may take
you up on that offer soon :) the only reel I have at the moment
that I would be able/want to get converted would be my old 6500
greem mag elite, would this make a good casting reel when done?
or would I be better buying something else used to convert?
The mag elite I have is old and been used for fishing for years
so is a bit battered etc lol but the look of a reel
doesn'tbother me, as longs as it casts well that's the main
thing :)
Thanks again
Luke
