Seems this will be to attract more countries to the
championships. A lot casters in asia for example cast lighter
weights and would rarely use a 175g.

Gents personally I've always feltl that there should. be a
weight class just like so many other sports competition this is
the one way for this sport to pick up in a big way ! Ive heard
of many skinny average casters that average 200metres
consistently !It's just not fair that the 60-70kilos(abt)
individual must compete with a 100+ kilos guy given both has
good technique naturally the bigger guy will outcast the skinny
guy.
It would be good if there is a light,.medium and heavy weight
class system
Something like 70kilos and below and then 70-90 and then 90 and
above or something like that.
It would be very interesting to see true light class
category(I'm sure this class will become very popular especially
amongst young guys) I'm pretty sure many will join this sport
and we might even see a boom in the light class as it would make
it very fair for the average skknny Joe's to compete in.
Just my opinions guys right now this sport is dominated.by
mostly extra large gents and if you'll notice in the photo line
up in every competition theres hardly any average sized or
skinny guy there.
Just my opinion

This is true Bill, and I think eventually it will happen.
There's no doubt being larger and/or stronger helps esp on the
bigger leads, but some small guys have done quite well in the
past.
I think 2 weight classes would be a good start maybe. Under 90kg
and over 90kg possibly.

Steve thanks for agreeing with me can you imagine big Danny has
casted 50g 209metres and 75 grams 220.metres !!!!!!! How is that
? And there are guys dreaming and drooling and casting their
b.lls ! off just trying to reach the magic 200metre mark using
125grams !!!!!!! What a big contrast ! Hope something is done
about this anyways if ever there is a light class it would be
very popular I think many fall.into the light category and the
contest for top spot would be very close and super exciting !

Steve just to add further if ever there was to be a light class
created by FIPS say 75kilos and below(or similar)im quite
certain there will be a huge representation and interest from
asia particualrly from singapore, malaysia, japan just to name a
few(im sure there are others)not forgetting rest of europe may
be from all corners of this globe ! Coz to put it simply many
fall under this category and particularly newbies who definitely
would want to have a go and this is all so good for this sport
isnt it ?
No guessing for the right answers but this so called light class
will be the most exciting and keenly contested as compared to
the heavier class.Im also guessing there wont be much betweeen
1st 2nd and 3rd im talking a few metres between them coz it will
be so close and keenly contested and finally there will fairness
on the casting court adding to the confidence to all lightweight
casters !
just a thought
cheers

Def Bill!!
Good to hear your input. I know you are not a serious tournament
caster but take your casting seriously. Do you cast over grass
or just water.
Your last vid on youtube looked nice. The slow one.
I will be heading out to practice the 150g after dinner as club
championship 150 day on Sunday. My favourite lead :)

I also think the 75 lead and the 175 out will change the year
too. Here fixed spool was looking place because a caster who
training al the year knowing tha on 175 lead with 0.35 line he
is loosing 10 or 15 mts. Brands like Daiwa or Shimano may be is
interested in show some reels on the field. Here stil we got
lots of casters using fixed spool who will be happy with this
changes
