Was following this tournament closely thanks to steve of this
excellent forum we were all kept very well updated ! I just
couldnt help myself and im sure everybody noticed the staggering
no. of HIGH REEL USERS ! This question of high reel vs low reel
speaks clearly in this tournament from now on its not whether is
low reel better ? or does low reel cast further ?
etc.......answer .....! its use low or high reel both can cast
just just as well so just choose whatever that suits you !
Fantastic casting by all the gents who took part and there were
many kinds of interesting styles not commonly seen.My personal
favourite has always been Mr Duane Lockwood of England what a
beautiful casting style he has and there's this particular
italian who had a very nice high swing style at 3.10sec. on
video Longcasting Champ 2018.
Normally hard hitting super long distance tourney styles are not
exactly smooth but Duane Lockwood has such a wide smooth
progressive style its a delight to watch him bend his rod and
cast !
Another thing i must say is Body strength is crucial ! No
offence to the all the heavyweights of casting but what chance
does the normal sized or skinny caster have in a world casting
tournament ? IF both the normal or skinny guy vs the big guy
both with same good technique with good speed delivery etc
......there's simply no chance for the small guy.
Which is why i say its high time this casting tournament should
have a kind of weight class say guys up to 70 or 75kilos max in
weight and call this the LIGHWEIGHT CATEGORY ! Im sure this
weight category would attract many casters from around the globe
and would be equally as exciting(may be more keenly contested)
to watch as the heavyweight category.
Very nice slomo footage of casters in this excellent tournament.
