We gathered in the upper field among the knee length grass with
a south west wind the oche was set up and grass tramped
underfoot to create a casting area. Today was 1oz and 18g plug
day, 8 casts on each so the round would be quick with least
walking for some. There was some fine casting today with loads
of PB'S and two new ulster records set. Well done to Sean on
getting the new records and winning both events. On a side note
there was also a side competition between myself and Benny
called the whiskey challenge, the rules are simple 4 cast on
fixed spool and 4 on multiplier for 1oz and the same on 18g
plugs, the winner is the one with the best aggregate over the 16
casts, all I have to say is well done to Benny enjoy the
hangover mate.

today was a normal field day but with 175g day in two weeks most
members decided to use the good wind to practice the heavy lead.
That's right folks we had a good wind of 15mph at times which
blew straight down the court in a northerly direction. The only
drawback was meant casting uphill, but the walk back was easier
especially in the dry warm sunshine. Thanks to all who helped
with the court.

Today was our 175g event and 5 members turned up to compete. We
had a south east wind of about 15mph which meant casting from
the bottom corner of the top field aiming up and over the hill.
There was a few showers early in the day but most of the day was
spent in t-shirts as it was warm and humid. Some of us had a
good day, congratulations to Graeme and Louis on achieving a pb
and to Stevie on the win.

it was a beautiful day with a gentle breeze and lots of very
warm sunshine, not a great day for casting made more difficult
as we were casting uphill, which makes getting a pb harder but
two members managed that, well done to Graeme and Louis. With
150g day in two weeks some of us decided to practice that lead
but as the day wore us down the leads got lighter some casting
plugs meaning walking distance was shorter. After all a bad days
casting is better than a good days work.

today was our 150g day and what a day it was, heavy rain and a
cross court wind. The forecast was for a wsw wind which meant
casting downhill from the slope but the wind changed and blew
westerly all day brining with it heavy showers. Given the
weather power was dialed back a bit to prevent spool slippage
but we did have a few resulting in few snap offs but all where
found. We had a new face today, Paul joined us to see if he
could improve his casting and using a bass rod managed a pb of
112 yards, good start hope to see you again mate. There was a
big battle for 3rd spot and the combatants where only separated
by a yard. Well done to Stevie would top spot today with a fine
cast of 247yards. Special thanks to all the members who helped
gather the court in the torrential rain we had at the end of the
day.

after a late start we set up in the top field casting from the
bottom right hand corner casting up and over the hill, at least
the oche was level and grass was short. There wasn't must
strength in the south east wind maybe maxing out at 13mph, but
it was great to be back casting again. With 125g day in a few
weeks most of us practiced with that lead and dropping down to
lighter stuff after lunch. There was a few pb's today with Paul
using fishing gear and casting extra light leads to mimic
spinners managed two pb's. Well done to Stevie who won the day
and managed to get a new Ulster record one the 1oz and fixed
spool.

with a cross court wind today it was decided to set up the court
in the upper field as it was the safest option and would enable
us to cast from corner to corner trying to get any help from the
weak westerly wind. This meant casting on a sloping oche and
downhill but we did the best we could with a few snap offs but
casts where changed slightly to counteract this. There was a few
showers during the day but mostly warm and sunny for a change
which meant doing battle on our 125g day pleasant. Well done to
Louis who in difficult conditions managed to get a PB, creeping
up to that magical 200y line mate and congratulations to Stevie
on winning the day.

today had its good point and bad points, we managed to get into
the larger flatter field and had a 20mph wind, which of course
blew across the court. So we set up the court to get any help
from the wind but each cast had a big bow of line out. Lucky we
had a large hedge protecting the oche which meant getting casts
right in the strong wind wasn't a problem but with 100g event in
two weeks a lot of us started with 100g weights. as you can
imagine in a cross wind this caused overruns and a few crack
offs, which where all recovered.

Today the casting gods where good to us, the rain died off
before we began and we had a southwest wind which meant we got
into the larger flat field and could cast with the wind blowing
down the court for a change. Six members turned up to do battle
on the mighty 100g lead and all of us started off with full
magnets and well controlled reels until a decent counter was in
court then we went for it. There was a few crack offs and a few
pbs too, not bad for a 10 mph wind. Top bombing goes to Stevie
who won the day but congratulations to Graeme and Louis on pbs.

The forecast was for strong southerly wind with rain showers, we
got a bright warm day with a southwest breeze. Not to complain
as it was a good day for casting anyway, but as its Halloween
many of us had family arrangements and parties to attend so it
was going to a half day of casting. We met up at 9.30am and made
our way to the top field as it was the safest option in the wind
and the other fields had cows in them. Once the court was set up
we got though as many rounds as possible before packing up.
There was some nice casts completed resulting in a few pbs, well
done to those lads.
