Well it started as a good day as we got into the lower flat
field as the wind was meant to come from the north, but it never
materialised, what we got for our light line event was fog then
heavy rain but that didn't stop us even when the water started
to run down the field. Five brave members turned up to do battle
with the skinnies, some even managed pbs.

Well done to Stevie Ratcliffe on the win, thanks to everyone who
       helped with the court.

With a north east breeze forecast we set up in the flatter field
and hoped for the best. The grass was damp until the sun came
out and shone down. So with a bright day and the forecasted
breeze not showing up but what breeze there was was about 3mph
and either cross court or in our face, the pressure was high and
not just in the atmospheric. There was a grudge match today with
money on the line, a mighty pound. The match was between Mark
Matthewson and our own member Stevie Ratcliffe, who would win as
it was close all day. Well I have to congratulate Mark on taking
the win and a fine display of casting.
It was nice to meet Mark, his wife Charlotte and their lovey
kids George and Evie, hope your stay in Northern Ireland is
       enjoyable.

well the forecast was for a northeasterly wind blowing 20mph and
rain. Well at least they got the rain right, the day started bad
as we ended up in the top field due to cattle in the lower
fields and given the forecasted wind we set up casting uphill.
The wind died off very quickly leaving a cross court breeze
which barely moved the flags and even blew in our face at times.
So with no wind, casting uphill and wet slippery grass distances
wouldn't be great but the five members who turned up did battle
with the conditions on our 150g day. With the heavy rain grip on
the spool was a problem so power was dialed back a bit, but
thankfully for the last two rounds the rain disappeared which
meant confidence increased and saw almost everyone increase on
       their best cast.

Today was our 125g day and the forecasted weather was for a wet
morning with a south west wind, well we got a damp morning and a
west wind which meant a cross court wind all day. We set up in
the upper field as it had the least amount of sheep and let us
angle the court to try and get some assistant from the wind, but
did meant a sloping oche, which turned to mush after the first
few rounds. So with a slippery oche the power had to be dialed
back a bit to prevent us falling on our asses but we did ok and
got some nice casts away with Graeme managing a pb.

today was our last meet of 2020 therefore we ran the secret
pairs event. In this event you cast any weight you want and only
your best distance counts, at the end of the day a draw is done
to see who pairs up with who, then the total distance is added
with the looser getting the wooden spoon and the winner a
selection box. The aim of this wee competition is you have to do
your best and support everyone as you don't know who your going
to end up with. Well 5 members turned up so it meant last drawn
out got double their best cast, getting a good cast would be
difficult as even though we got a nice wind meaning we could
cast across the hill from a flatter oche the rain had turned the
field into a river in some places. It wasn't long until the oche
became a mud bath as did the base camp area so keeping balance
in the mud and grip in the wet would mean a dial back of power,
saying this Stevie managed to get a few good casts away. I would
like to wish all members and all casters world wide a happy
Christmas and prosperous new year and may all your casts be
       long.

well it has been almost 5 months snice we had a field meet and
boy was it great to get out again. The forecast was for a south
east wind and that's what we got not strong but enough to ruffle
the flags, the rain that was there at the start soon dried up to
give a nice enough day for casting. After the initial catch up
we got down to business and it was easy to see who had managed
to get out and practice over the past few months and who hadn't.
We also had a new face so welcome Louis hope to see you again
soon and I hope you had a good day. A few member went straight
onto the 100g while the rest of us played with heavier leads,
well done to Stevie on getting a pb on the mighty 200g and it
wasn't the only pb as Graeme managed to get his 100g over the
200 yard line. In two weeks it was meant to be the 100g day to
finish off the core lead competitions from last year, but I
think some of us need more practice so in two weeks its a 100g
practice day and in 4 weeks it will be 100g day.

well today was the last chance to practice the 100g lead before
the 100g day in two weeks time. With a NW wind and livestock in
the lower fields we had to setup on the slope in the top field
and cast across the hill. The wind was just strong enough to
keep the flags flying but it did gust to a decent strength for a
short while around lunch time, so lunch was suspended for a few
rounds. The high pressure didn't help with the lighter lead and
getting it to travel was hard work, thankfully the forecasted
rain didn't arrive until we packed up so it was a dry pleasant
day. Most members started on the 100g lead to work on swings(yes
its been a while) sort reels and to see how much work was
needed, a few others started heavier but didn't record these.
Casts where slightly modified due to the slope but no one hit
the ground but we did have a few snap offs and quite a few left
       out of court casts(mainly me).

On the way to the field today the heavens opened and I thought
that the rain was on for the day but thankfully it had fizzled
out by the time the court was up and stayed dry all day, in fact
the sun shone and coats came off. With livestock in the lower
fields we set up in the upper field, as for the wind it was an
ENE at about 8-12mph which meant casting uphill. As today was
our 100g event(a few months late due to lockdown) we had 5 casts
then break then 5 more, once the competition was over some of us
played with the ultra light leads and 18g plugs, our next event
in 4 weeks. It was tough going casting uphill, but the walk down
was easy. We had almost a full membership casting today and it
was good to see everyone there and as always the craic was good.
We did have a few snap offs some which went very far and others
that didn't but we found all of them, thanks to all to helped
with the court and well done to Stevie on the win.

We had bright sunshine today so a few burnt heads but we did
have a nice wind which started off as in southeast direction but
changed to an easterly later. Once again we set up in the upper
field as it was the only one available with livestock in the
lower fields and it suited the wind direction, it meant casting
across the hill but we did have a nice flat oche for a change.
With the ultra light day in two weeks most of us set up with the
1oz and 18g plug but a few started with the heavier leads and it
paid off with a few pbs and a new ulster record on the 200g.
Well done to Stevie as after his hard work and practice he
finally beat a long standing record for the 200g with a pb of
250-0-10. There was also a new club member joining us, welcome
to the club Louis and it was great to see long time member Sean
       back on the field.
