Well we are back casting again and it took quite a few round to
knock the rust off, but muscle memory kicked in and we where
soon back in the swing of things. Now for the usual weather
report, the forecast for today was light showers, 15 to 20mph
winds in a north west direction, we got heavy showers and a west
north west breeze. This meant casting uphill as the only field
available was the top field and we are highly grateful to have
it back. As the day progressed distances started to increase as
the body starts to remember what its meant to do, but casting
uphill cuts down the distance a bit, a big well done to Lin who
made a big jump in hid pb today finishing on 185yards, practice
is paying off mate. Must mention Graeme today as he was out with
a new toy , the century xc90, and I am sure he will give us his
thought on the rod. We rapped up early as the air pressure was
climbing and the breeze had become a cross court wind, beside
with only 5 casters the rounds where over quickly so we got
plenty of casting done. Once again a big thanks to all those who
helped with the court and measuring its apricated.

Well its been a long while snice we been casting, with holidays,
car problems etc its been a 10 week lay off, so we are a bit
rusty. Given that its been 10 weeks snice we have been in a
field and todays forecast is for very high pressure and a light
breeze which went in a northly direction most of the day, which
meant we where in the flat field for a change. Six members
turned up to knock the dust off the gear. We soon had the court
set up and the first few gentle rounds showed up the rust but
muscle memory kicks in and soon the carbon was being bent and
the leads heading up court, bit given the conditions it was
tough going but Stevie did manage a 237yard cast. Today was Lins
first day as a member so welcome to the club mate. Just a heads
up but next meet is 150g practice day.

today was our 150g lead event and we had 5 members turn up. The
field was in use with sheep dog training so we had to wait until
it was free before carrying the court to the top of the hill. As
you guess it was a south west wind of 10-12mph with a few
stronger gust, which meant setting up the oche on a slope and
casting downhill. Casting on a slope takes a bit of getting used
to as it knocks the step off and you go left but you soon learn
to compensate and soon start casting down the court. With a
light wind and high pressure we had a dry day for a change,
which was very pleasant cast in, if fact after a few trips back
up the hill coats came off as it got warm. Top bombing goes to
Graeme who managed to gat close to a pb, just 4 yards shy but he
did win with a 226y cast. Once again thanks to all for the help
with the court and for future reference we will be meeting at
10.30/10.45am as the sheep dog training will be taking place.

Today was our 125g practice day and for once the condition where
good, we had low pressure and a 20moh wind gusting to 30mph, the
rain even stayed away until 2.45pm but by that time the 4
members present had done 16 casts and tiredness was setting in.
Only one member managed to take advantage of the conditions and
Louis broke the 220yard barrier in style with a 226yard pb, well
done that man. For the rest of us the day was a bit of a
disaster, between decking the slope we where casting on, snap
offs and reels snarling up at the same spot each time( must pack
spare reels next time) only 3 members recorded casts. once again
thanks to the lad for helping with the court, its a heavy beast
       to carry up the field.
       Results for 23/11/2025

Today was our first meet of the new year and it started with
heavy rain, but it soon dried up and became a nice sunny day
with a south east wind or 15-20mph. Unfortunately the field was
a bit wet to say the least so we set up in the driest spot we
could find, this meant casting across the hill with a slight
crosswind. Only 4 members turned up today and flu and work kept
others away, so the round came thick and fast and it wasn't long
until the oche was a mud bath. We managed about 10 round before
it was too slippy to continue so we packed up and made the long
walk back to the cars. Even though it was a quick day it was
enjoyable and it was good to get back out and flex some carbon.
well done to Stevie who managed the longest cast of the day.

Well the heavy rain of the last few months has disappeared for a
while and the field has had a chance to dry, so we got back to
flexing some carbon today. The weather was beautiful, warn dry
and sunny with a northwest wind of around 5 to 12mph,
unfortunately this soon changed to a westerly which for us is a
cross court wind. We put up with the conditions for a good while
but with only three members today the rounds where thick and
fast and the lack of casting showed as about 2pm we where tired
and sore, so it was decided to call it quits early. The lack of
practice showed as two of us where way out left but they found
the court in the end, there was a few crack offs too but where
found easily in the short grass.

Today was a beautiful day, the sun shone, the field was dry and
barely a breeze to ruffle the flags so we are in a high pressure
area, not good for casting but at least we are getting out. Five
members turned up today but only four where casting as poor
Graeme was injured and was forced to watch from the side lines.
As always the craic was good and casts where many with all of us
going for the heavier leads to try and get some distance, but
with the breeze now going across court, the high pressure and
the lack of practice ( first time some of us have lifted a rod
in 6 weeks or more) shows in the low scores. Even though
conditions where not favorable we did our best and had a great
day out, well done to Stevie who managed to cast well and hit
235yards, roll on the next one. Once again thanks to all who
helped with the court and measuring.

Its May but you wouldn't have thought it with the weather that
greeted us today, cold and wet. It was overcast with a light
breeze in a northeast direction so we set in a flatter field
casting away from the house. With the damp conditions there was
a few spool slips with the resulting crack offs but all where
recovered but despite this Stevie did manage a 250yard cast.
Four members turned up today with work and master angler
competition keeping some away so the round where fast and it
wasn't long until we have over 16 casts each ( I was doing 4
casts per lead). Once again thanks with the setting up and
       taking down of the court.

The forecast for today was a south west wind and rain, we got
sunshine and a cross court breeze with the odd gust hitting
13mph. Four members turned up today with some on holidays and
family commitments keeping others at bay. So we set up in the
upper field and angled the court downhill but meant casting on a
slope so casts had to be adjusted to cope. With only four
members the rounds where very quick and it wasn't long until the
marching up the hill became a chore especially as the grass is
starting to get long. Top bombing goes to Stevie with an
impressive 259yard cast. Thanks to all who helped with the court
i apricate it. Unfortunately there will be no casting in two
weeks as the road leading up to the field will be closed for
       resurfacing.
