todays meet (28/5/23) was cancelled due to long grass. next meet
could be in 4 weeks time.

After a long wait the grass was cut and a casting meet was
organized. Six members turned up to cast, each of us a bit rusty
but raring to go. With a nne wind we set up in one of the
flatter fields as the direction meant casting away from the
sheds and house, the wind brought with it rain, lots of rain.
This meant thumb slip was a possibly so power had to be dialed
back, there was a few crack off but all were found. The rain
didn't damping spirits as the craic was good, it was nice to
meet up again and we soon found out that the muscle memory came
back. As it was raining we decided to pack up early as we were
soaked but wouldn't you guess it once the court was packed into
the car the rain stopped. All in all a good day out and with
150g day in two weeks all members chose to cast that lead today.

its been a while snice we have casted in a field and we were
happy to be back at it again today. With the upper two field out
of action due to cattle and sheep dog training we haven't been
able to cast, but the farmer has cut the grass in the 3rd field
down so we got into that one today. Its a nice flat surface and
long enough for us to use so without any haste we had the oche
and court set up and got to bending some carbon. The weather was
nice for a change with a mostly south west wind which came and
went throughout the day. The best casts came early in the day
before the temperature sored and the air pressure increased but
what a day to be casting even if it was tough going and we are a
bit rusty. We had five members turn up to compete in our 150g
day, yes we finally got to run it, unfortunately two of our
members are out injured, so speedy recovery to Benny and Chris,
hope to see you back at it soon lads.

The forecast was for rain and south east wind of 15 to 20mph, we
got the rain and a south east breeze but still we went casting.
Three members and a daycaster turned up today so the rounds came
thick and fast. With the wind direction and no cattle in the
upper field it was the best choice, the flatter fields meant
casting towards the barns and house. Unfortunately this meant
casting up and across the hill but we are thankful to at least
have access to a venue. Once the court and oche where set up the
first round was gentle given the wet conditions, the rain
continued for most of the day, so conditions were not great and
the oche did get a bit slippy after several rounds, so we packed
up early before the real heavy rain started.

We had a small turnout for our 125g event, but what a day once
the rain cleared the sun came out and it like mid July. There
was a forecasted wind of 12-15mph in a south west direction
combined with high pressure made casting the 125g fun. Given the
wind direction and the fact that cattle occupied the lower
flatter field we had to set up the oche on the hill, this meant
a slight slope for the oche but it meant we where casting
downhill for a change. Well done to Graeme on wining the day and
congratulations to Louis and Cain on there pb's.

today was a normal field day in which your free to cast any
lead. The day was beautiful sun shinning and light winds, which
blew WNW which meant we could get into a flatter field for a
change. Once the oche was placed and the court set up, angled in
a NW direction as to try and get what help we could from the
breeze. As the day went by the air pressure grew and the breeze
died off and we baked in the sunshine. With 100g day looming in
the near future a few of us tried the 100g lead, more work
needed. Even in the bad casting weather Stevie managed a nice
cast on the 150g and Louis was only a few yards short of a new
pb, one to watch out for.

Today was a day of high hopes that where dashed pretty soon. The
forecast was for south east wind of up to 25mph, turning east
south east after lunch. It was also meant to be dry until lunch
but it rained all day as for the wind it went from a south east
to east which meant a cross court wind. Not to be put off we
angled the court to try and get some wind but it wasn't much
help. A few brave souls turned up to do battle with the
elements, with two daycasters in tow. The plan was to practice
the 100g for the upcoming 100g event but with the wind blowing
easterly the lighter line soon ended up on the left of court, so
most went with the heavier 125g or 150g. After lunch the rain
got heavier but we cast on for a while but soon got wet, so we
decided to pack up and head for the warmth of home.

Today was our 100g event and after strong winds all week the
weather gods gave us a weak south westerly breeze, typical. We
had 6 members turn up to do battle over 12 casts so we gathered
early to try and beat the rain, which started as a missal with 3
casts left. The longest cast were made early in the day as the
wind died off after lunch, so with no wind and high pressure the
100g lead just dropped out of the sky but we persevered and
finished the day. The southwest breeze meant we set up in the
top field casting downhill which is fun until you have to walk
back up again.

we finally managed to get a decent wind but unfortunately recent
rain had left the field a bit soft, so after a few casts the
oche had turned into a mud bath and it was deemed unsafe. You
were unable to stand without slipping so the event was abandoned
so in two weeks it will be practice day for the 175g.

with the field drier underfoot but still soft only 4x4s where
able to drive in and everyone else had to walk, sorry. It was a
dry day with high pressure and a wind which was across court all
day but after all it was only 175g practice day. A chance to
fine tune reels and work on our cast, which was needed as this
was the first full field day snice last year. We had a few
daycasters one of which got a pb so well done to Gareth, longest
cast went to our other daycaster Stephen who almost made
250yards. It was a fun day and warm for February as we even
managed to take the coats off. Lots to work on for the next
event the members 175g day.
