13' TTR for the field ?

I have had a few different TTR's in my career and have recently
started using mine again but in a shortened version and must say
that I am happy that I have :D original specifications for the
TTR are a length of 14'3" and rated up to 8 oz and must say at
this length she is a rod to be considered by those who have the
technique and power to get the most from her.
My original use of the rod saw me getting reasonable distances
but for a short bloke like me it was a handful.

Since that time I have gravitated to lighter and shorter rods to
provide better power to weight ratios and in the main this has
been proving to be the way to go. With that in mind I decided to
give the TTR another try but this time shorted to a very compact
13' . I should state at this time that by shortening the rod it
actually make it a much faster compressing rod as the tip loads
quickly and the shorter stiffer butt section allows me to
shorten my grip and get a much better ( faster ) left arm pull.

In the coming weeks I will shorten the gip a little more and
focus on casting the lighter 100 and 125 gram leads as these are
now giving me a much better distance for the power that I am
putting into the cast. I am hoping that I can get a very short
fast hit right at the last part of the turn and therefore see
some better distances. This coming Sundays casting will be the
initial trials :-)
