       Sochaux Report Newcastle To FIFA

Ligue 1 side Sochaux have reported Newcastle to FIFA claiming
they spoke to the player without the clubs consent which is
       known as illegal tapping up.
Newcastle should've known better than to do something like this.
Modibo Maiga has been refusing to train and play for Sochaux
after Newcastle sparked interest in him even giving up Europa
League matches in order to join Newcastle.
A club statement was posted on the Official Sochaux website.
       "The
       club sent a referral to
       FIFA with the aim of
       obtaining (assurances) on
       the part of Newcastle that
       they will stop their
       contacts with Modibo
       Maiga, who is under
       contract with FCSM until
       2014.
       "This (contact) is in
       violation of Article 18 of
       the current international
       regulations.
       "This measure comes after
       Sochaux demanded
       without success, in an
       official manner and on two
       occasions, that the English
club put a stop to their
       actions."

Well they should of rejected the offer and not told the player
they had received an offer, also how much is this down to
"agents" contacting teams and saying "my player is available or
has an interest in joining you"? And surely tapping up is
always in the game be it players contacting other players ie.
Nolan on Barton, Evra on Nasri. And of course managers
expressing an interest in other players.

i am pretty sure we will be lambasted and dragged over the coals
for something that every football team is guilty of.

Like I said earlier on your facebook page and I quote "thing is
it goes on all the time I think this is Souchaux's way of
getting back at Maiga for going on strike trying to force the
sale", this is getting out of hand the amount of players that go
on strike to get a move, Mascerano (spelt wrong) did it at
Liverpool, Ben Arfa did it, Demba Ba, and also in a way of his
behaviour Joey Barton kind of tried to instigate a move with his
actions (Different matter I know but I am willing to give my
views on it in a different post). Is this the new way of the
professional footballer throw your toys out your pram until you
       get your own way?

I'm a firm believer that players should be allowed to speak to
anyone they like. In the real world an employee can speak to any
other company about a possible change in employment so why can't
professional footballers? I know players are on a lot of money
and they are under contract but surely they should be able to
       buy themselves out of it.
Like Pardew said, I do not condone what Maiga has done and it is
basically a big F U to the fans who pay his wages, the club that
has given him his job and every single one of his teammates but
if he wants to leave then there should be some way for a player
to do it without having to wait 3 yrs to leave an unhappy
       situation.

this is why I am not in favour of the transfer window. If we
don't sign this Maiga is he going to stay on strike until
January? I am sure when you are on strike you are in breach of
your contract so therefore do not legally need to be paid wages
by the club. And honestly Toon Heeds do we want this kind of
       player at our club? Discuss

I don't agree with tapping up at all but is so common these
       days.
we should have just put in a bid then Maiga would've known about
it and it wouldn't be tapping up that way.
Arsenal said Fabregas wasn't for sale but as soon as a player
finds out about an enquiry of something they'd love to do,
theres no getting in the way of their heart
Do you see what i'm saying?

Totally agree with you. In my eyes if a bid is refused you
should then ask what it will take to get the player if they then
state the player is not for sale at any price you should respect
that and move on. As a TOON fan if that was to happen to one of
our players I would be livid and would be wanting the F.A. or
Uefa (not that they know their arse from their elbow) to do
something about it, but like you said it is now common in our
game with agents and so much press coverage and rumours that it
is bound to get to a player that an offer has been made. On a
different note something has just come to my attention over the
past 3 years the TOON has had this mysterious Sky Sports news
insider in the club? Just a thought this insider has been very
very quiet since a certain Mr Nolan has left the club????????

its abit stupid. if the player wants to leave whats the point
       trying to keep him?
the club should just be talking to newcastle about prices, not
       reporting them!
