Here in NJ, I have two - Shop Rite (one location) and Trader
Joe's (all nearby locations). Shop Rite is a huge chain here
but they're privately owned so they're not all alike. The one I
use is not the closest, it's 3 or 4 towns away, about 15 minutes
from here, but it's got the best parking, the freshest local
produce, and the nicest personnel. Shop Rite in general has the
best prices and their 80/20 ground beef makes the absolute best
hamburgers, bar none! Their store brands are great: bread,
hamburger and hot dog rolls, milk, butter, yogurt, most canned &
frozen veggies etc are usually all I buy, not because they're
cheap but because they taste good. The bread is $1 for a large
loaf of white, the rolls go on sale for $1-1.29 often, the
steamable frozen veggies are $1/bag on sale. I also like their
ground turkey, and they have a good fresh fish market and cold
cut counter offering sales and specials often on the choices we
like. They have a very good selection of organic products too.
I don't however, like their beef and chicken that much so I buy
steaks at a local IGA market, and chicken at Trader Joe's, where
I also prefer to buy plain yogurt, cereal, bags of salad, fresh
eggs from nearby PA farms, and many other items that taste great
and are reasonable, or I can't get anywhere else.

Albertsons but we don’t have one here so I guess Safeway now
