What do you wear to a high school graduation?

I figured it should be a bit dressy. Mario said he's always worn
normal clothes. I haven't been to a graduation since my own and
my brother's still in the 90s.

I don't have any dresses. I'm going with a navy maxi skirt and
white and navy top with my typical strappy sandals.

That's perfect. I usually wear slacks and a nice top. Though I
didn't dress up for my niece's this year and wore jeans and a
regular shirt and many other people wore jeans as well.

I haven't been to a grad in while but around here it depends on
the school, the setting, and if you are invited to the banquet
after. Around here the bigger schools can afford to use our big
event center and everyone that has a ticket wears semi-formal
attire while the grads go formal. I know some of the smaller
schools still do that for the ceremony but for after events
dress is a lot more casual.

Something neat and a tad dressier than normal, I think.

That may depend on the time of day, weather, if the ceremony is
indoors or outdoors, and if you'll be attending a party or
celebration afterward. Yes, I think it should be somewhat
dressy - like something you'd wear to church or a bridal shower
or luncheon. A simple pant outfit in a bright color or pretty
pastel, or a simple skirt with a pretty, maybe lacy, blouse and
nice shoes - make it flats or dressy low wedges in leather or
patent if it's outdoors. Maybe a flowy, flowery print sundress
with a little cardigan or bolero. Make it a simple outfit and
dress it up with jewelry - pearls, a statement necklace of
turquoise or coral, a large bangle bracelet and simple dangly
earrings. If it's indoors and/or if there's a restaurant party
after, add a shawl or scarf in case it's cool. If there's an
outdoor party, a nice skirt in a dark denim or twill, flats or
flat sandals, simple jewelry and a sleeveless or cap sleeve
blouse under a cardigan or light blazer. Avoid: all black (black
and white, maybe with contrasting jewelry is nice), ripped,
frayed or faded denim, noisy bangles, beachwear.

[font=andale mono]That sounds like a perfect outfit for a
graduation. I don't think you can go wrong with a maxi skirt.
