Mostly dresses, but also a few formal tops and pants that I
       don't wear that often.

That's great! It will keep them nice ... my mom used to use moth
balls inside her garment bags to prevent moths from eating her
       clothes, lol! :)

In your closet? How do you keep it organized?
       [/quote]
no... I fold the shorts and pants and they are on a shelf... all
shirts are organized into sleeveless, short-sleeved, and
long-sleeved from L to R... then dresses, then coats. It's easy
to find what I need because I have a smaller closet and not a
       lot of clothes.

I used garment bags for some of the out of season clothes (like
cashmere and wool sweaters), and special occasion clothes - DH's
dress suits and tuxedo; my ball gown, cocktail dresses and
special occasion outfits. I also keep my Sweet Adeline costumes
in their own garment bags - makes them easier to find and take
along for a performance or competition. We have very little
actual closet space so our clothes are organized by color: all
the blue, black, and all DH's clothes are in one closet, all my
pink, white, yellow and khaki items/separates are in my closet
and the green, tan and red things are on a hook behind the
bedroom door. Summer dresses are on a hook inside the hall
closet door - the out of season clothes are stored in that
closet also while the clothes in garment bags are in the guest
room closet and behind the door.
