My kids can do cereal or anything to do with microwaves and
toasters. The can cook a bit too but I don't let them often cuz
I fear them getting hurt on the gas stove.

cook/bake yes but not without me I do the stove/oven parts :)

Savannah is 6, she can make toast, simple sandwiches and bowls
of cereal. Olivia and Kenzie are 4, right now they just do the
bowls of cereal.

DD was taught to cook to feed herself as she grew. Her
grandmother taught her a lot of family stuff. DD and her bff
used to make cupcakes on weekends during high school too.
