My husband and I are both no nonsense parents as well, but both
of us have bribed the girls. It's not really a bribe though;
more of a promised reward for good behaviour as opposed to a
threat.

I would never with money either. That would be a fast and steep
slippery slope to being blackmailed by a child later on. We
have bribed with treats or something. Sometimes if they are not
behaving properly on a weekend evening I might tell them if they
behave they can stay up until whenever.
