Ours was in a way bigger cabinet with speakers and then a radio
and record player in the top.

Sort of. We never had one in a console like that - ours was
free-standing, and was set in the living room on a nice, sturdy
mahogany "TV table" that looked like it matched our furniture(
it might have, most of our furniture was made by my uncles - it
was their profession) , and had a cabinet below where my folks
       stored Dad's record albums. I remember our 1st TV, a Sylvania 21
inch. I was about 7 and I remember it weighed a ton! Before
that, on weekends, we could watch some TV on Grandma & Grandpa's
1940's RCA TV downstairs in their living room. I remember one
Sunday night when they wanted to watch Lawrence Welk, and we
       wanted to watch Lassie, lol!

Wow!! It's awesome that your Uncles made furniture! That takes a
lot of skill, hard work, and it's creative! :)
It sounds pretty nice, especially being it had storage for your
Dad's record albums :) I hated Lawrence Welk, Lol!!
But I did love watching Lassie! :).

Ours had a cabinet as well :) I think they stopped making them
       in like the late 1970's.

Did they have a color or black and white tv?
