A woman that he'd been chatting with had fallen for him pretty
hard and despite knowing that he wasn't interested beyond
friendship and was getting married to me she wouldn't leave him
alone. When he first moved to Canada she'd call him and send him
mail (will heart stickers and lipstick lips and perfume on
them). My dad answered one time and let her have it after she
wouldn't stop asking for dh. She stopped until after we'd gotten
married and were in our own place. She started calling him under
the guise of needing him to give some tech support for her
computer and love advice. I had to get mad at him and told him
in no uncertain terms to stop her or he would be going home! It
took a long time for me to get past it and I know she's tried to
contact him on FB. But I trust him and if it ever happens again
then there will be family/marriage counselling before I end it
completely. I have to make an effort now that we have a family
       to protect.

I would have felt somewhat bad for her...

prior to having a child i'd have walked. we've had issues with
his ex wanting him back and this is nine years after the break
up. she's been getting screwed over by every man. she cheats in
every relationship he's in. she absolutely for a long time
destroyed what self esteem my husband had. I came into his life
and he's back to being his confident cocky self. our
       relationship is pretty good.

It would take a very, very long time; a lot of counselling and a
lot of talk between the two of us. Trust that is broken takes a
       very long time to re-establish.
What I would want to know is if he's the philandering sort, or
if there was a breakdown in our relationship.

Counseling and a lot of talks would definitely be important.I
think lack of communication to solve an issue this big would
only create distance... it would also be important to know if he
       was the philandering type

I barely tolerate DH because of what he pit me through with
online cheating years ago! I tried to get past it through
counseling but I just can't. I have wanted to divorce him in the
past, and sadly I am feeling like I want to again! It was an
emotional affair, not physical, but to be that is still a
betrayal! It just isn't easy to forgive

No. There's no way I would tolerate it nor forgive it.
