Not right now. And they are old enough to stay at home alone for
a couple of hours during the day but I'm not sure they're ready
for the whole evening. I know a couple teens that will come
during the school year but now they're all either getting ready
to go out of town for the summer to work at camps or have jobs.
We used to have some family friends that would babysit but once
they were school aged people stopped being willing to watch
them. So now date night only happens if my parents, or sister,
are in town. Or if we get really lucky and both kids are with
friends for sleepovers.

It can be hard to get out when you don't have the option to
have a baby sitter... Staying by themselves during the day would
be different than staying by themselves at night...

It is a lot different, especially when you live on an acreage
and don't know the neighbors very well. Both kids have been
having issues with their anxiety lately and I'm not in a very
good place right now either. So we're going to slowly work them
up to being alone after dark/in the evening. At 10 and almost 12
it's time they work up to it, especially if they want to
babysit. We'll see what happens over the summer [emoji4]

I totally agree that it would be good to work up to it, ...and
since they have anxiety issues and you aren't in a good place
right now, slowly working up to it, would be a good idea.
