       Comic Books
By: EnigmaMinded Date: October 25, 2012, 8:08 am

Anyone read them, collect, or what the films? I've been a fan
for a very long time. In fact got 26 years of it under my belt.
I've read and collected a lot of books. My favorite character
happens to be Batman. That started at the age of 6. Of course
I've seen the films and cartoons. Just wondering if there was
any other comic book fans on the board.

As a wee chap I always wanted to be a comic book artist, a dream
I kept until about 19 when the world of offices beckoned and
ruined any particular dream I had (doesn't help that the UK
based comic book market is very slim by comparison to the US). I
even had an opportunity to try out for someone in the US, but
       alas, all fell through.
I'm a Marvel fan mostly. DC tends to leave me very cold. I like
the Batman villains, Lobo, Vertigo and that's about it really
from DC. Started reading superhero comics with an issue of Rom
around 1985 and have a fair few to say the least. Favourite
artist and inspiration for my art is Jim Lee. Favourite comic
was Uncanny X-Men with favourite character being Psylocke. Just
bought 15 issues of Thunderbolts to try out which seem
interesting. Pre US superhero comics I was more into 2000ad.

I also know my partner in crime, Mr SteveB is a bit of a buff,
although his level I couldn't tell you.

Tat's cool Sel. Always cool to meet another comic book fan. I
too wanted to get into comics but took another route. I've had
the opportunity to get to know and become friends with quite a
few people in the industry. Jim Le is a great guy. So great with
the fans as well. Had the pleasure to meet him sometime back.
Now he's one of the big guns at DC.

I've watched a lot of the Marvel films and a few of the DC ones,
never really read the comics... except every once in a while.

Comic books and graphic novels are great. I don't get bogged
down in the DC/Marvel debate. I do like Batman, though. Scott
Snyder's Black Mirror is fantastic. A lot of the independent
publishers are putting out some great stuff at the moment, most
       notably Saga from Image Comics.
