       Chat with Big E

Wrestling fans can expect lots of action when the stars of the
World Wrestling Entertainment come to the Sun National Bank
       Center in Trenton, Oct. 2....
Matches scheduled for the event include 10-time WWE champion
John Cena versus current World Heavyweight Champion Seth
Rollins; Cesaro vs Kevin Owens; Chris Jericho vs. Money in the
Bank contract winner Sheamus; plus Mark Henry, Neville,
Stardust, PCB, Team Bella and many more.
The WWE tag team champions, the New Day, will also be putting
their titles on the line, with a return bout against the Dudley
Boyz, who defeated the champs this past week at Night of
Champions, although the win was by disqualification so the title
       didn’t change hands.
The New Day is actually comprised of three wrestlers — Big E,
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, with any two battling in the
squared circle during a match (though the third is often
       ringside to lend “support.”
”You can expect to see a ton of very entertaining nonsense
from us,” says Big E. “The great thing about the live event is
that there’s a lot more interaction than people may expect and
we try to be up close and personal with our fans.”
Currently considered “heels” in the WWE, the New Day is
amongst the most popular tag teams in the past decade and Big E
says he’s excited about squaring off against their new arch
       nemesis, the legendary Dudley Boyz.
”Nothing quite changes going from feud to feud. As
performers, we all strive to get the best possible reaction,
whether that’s getting the loudest boos or the loudest cheers,”
Big E says. “The amount of work we have done behind the scenes,
and seeing it come to fruition, has been amazing. We’re always
trying to steal the show and to have the best possible match we
can and leave people with something memorable.”
Big E’s athletic career dates back to high school, when he
was a wrestling champion. He also played college football for
the University of Iowa. After college, he shattered state and
national power-lifting records, recording 806-pound deadlifts
and 575 pounds on the bench.
”I was a big fan of wrestling as a kid, but I never really
thought it was something I could do for a living,” he says. “It
wasn’t until I was in grad school that a friend of mine had a
connection and asked if it was something I would be interested
in. The first time I got into a ring, I knew it was something
pretty cool and something I could see enjoying for a long time.”
Big E first made his mark in the WWE by pinning Curtis Axel
in November 2013 to take home the Intercontinental Championship.
A year later, he and his New Day cohorts would capture the WWE
Tag Team Championship for the first time, winning a memorable
       battle against Goldust and Stardust.
”As a performer in the WWE, obviously my goal is to become
World Heavyweight Champion, but right now being a two-time tag
champion with my brothers is really cool,” he says. “Titles are
important but you also want to be part of the most entertaining
segments and I think that’s something we are all putting forth
and I think all three of us are coming into our own as
       performers.”
Though he’s happy to rule the tag-team division with his
buddies, Big E know that in the world of the WWE, it might be
only a matter of time before one of the members turns on
another, and he’s back in singles competition.
”The thought of that has crossed our minds, but it’s not
something that we currently want at this time,” he says. “We are
very persistent. We believe in the three of us as a trio,
working together and I think we have great chemistry together.”
