List Of 15 Racist Gimmicks/Moments In WWE History. Have Your Say

Racism In Wrestling Goes Way Deeper Than You Might Think. Here
Is A List Of 15 Racist Gimmicks/Moments In WWE History.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has terminated it's contract
with Hulk Hogan and severed all ties due to Hogan going off on a
racist homophobic rant. I myself understand the decision to
release/fire Hogan. What i will not accept (taking into
consideration this rant happened 8 years ago) is the way WWE
handled the situation considering all the racist homophobic
skits they have been produced themselves over the decades gone
       by.
Vince's response to these segments was "Oh It's just TV"
-------Wrong Vince! This isn't an isolated event. Wrestling has
been involved in racism for years! What you did was exploit
racism and homophobia in order to sell tickets and gain viewers.
If anything, WWE is just as, if not worse than the Hulkster's
       recently released rants.
Hulk Hogan, who's real name is Terry Bollea had helped Vince
Mcmahon build the WWE into the powerhouse that it is today. No
one has done more for professional wrestling than the Hulkster,
the man who threw wrestling into mainstream popularity with pop
culture and celebrities. He is one of if not the biggest legend
in wrestling history. His legacy now lies in tatters with no way
to regain it. The children from the 80's 90's era have been left
corrupted with childhood memories left in ruins.
So in light of all the controversy surrounding Hulk Hogan's
dramatic fall from grace. I have one question to put to all of
you guys. Is the WWE all so innocent themselves?
Lets take a look at stereotyped racism and racism in wresting.
Please have your say and get involved by joining in the covo
When asked to come up with a gimmick, African American wrestler
James Harris chose a Ugandan Giant gimmick and his name would be
Kamala. According to the customs of Kamala, Ugandan people are
all vicious and stupid cannibals who prance about in loincloths
and face paint. A racist nature of a huge Black man wrestling
barefoot in leopard print rags, complete with a spear and paint
on his face and belly. He also often attempted to pin an
opponent while they lay on their stomach. Could this racial
stereotyping get any more offensive to Ugandans? Well yes, of
course it would. Kamala needed a master/handler, he ate live
chickens on air and that notable humanitarian. He will always be
remembered for slandering the nation of Uganda with his ringside
       antics and appearance.
(Author's Edit)-----Kamala released this statement today on the
Hogan subject--- Kamala says that he thinks that the whole
controversy is all blown out of proportion.
"We have our little things we say about white people," Kamala
explained. "Nobody says anything. Not that we mean harm by doing
it. We have little jokes and laugh about it. I do not think
Hogan meant harm by saying that. Hogan is my brother until he
       decides not to be."
Kamala then stated that he was told that Vince McMahon didn't
like black people, and that because Kamala was black, he
wouldn't get paid as much as his white counterparts.
"Steve told me personally that Vince didn't really like black
people. I got along very good with Vince. But that was before
       all of the kayfabing"
       Sgt. Slaughter
Slaughter returned to the WWE in 1990 when Vince McMahon was
looking for a heel. The idea was that Slaughter would turn
against the country he is supposed to be serving due to the US
acceptance of Nikolai Volkoff following the collapse of the Iron
Curtain. WWE used the Gulf War as a gimmick for Slaughter who
allied himself with Saddam Hussein with the racially
uber-stereotyped ‘Iraqis’ and ordaining himself a bad guy by
wearing a tea towel on his head. By his side with him was the
horribly stereotyped General Adnan and the two men trotted about
wearing tea towels on their heads with Adnan ranting in
       ‘Arabic’.
Colonel Mustafa soon joined them for a while and Hulk Hogan’s
shirt was burnt It is another example of the WWE’s careless and
       thoughtless attitude towards ethnicity.
       Papa Shango
A Voodoo practitioner who could control the arena lights,
carried a smoke-billowing skull into the ring and could
apparently ‘curse’ his opponents including the one Ultimate
Warrior who Shango made puke by using his magical powers, which
was disgusting rather than scary. Papa Shango was also a rather
racist piece of WWE's history in which a black man had his face
painted and carried on like a witchdoctor. It was a cynical
attempt to cash in on a particular ethnic stereotype.
       JBL Goes Hunting for Illegals
You read that title correctly guys ! Former WWE champion JBL
went on the hunt for Mexicans .
The uber-American JBL was very anti-Mexican, especially against
men like Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. What lead to some
great matches but During the segment, JBL shows a lot of his
emotions about illegal immigrants, but has the sentiments
directed toward Mysterio. JBL played the part well, but did they
       really need to go there?
       Cryme Tyme
Hip-Hop culture finally comes to the WWE properly as they...
...got two thugs named JTG and Shad to play the hood duo of
Cryme Tyme. It was 2006 mind you. Their Money, Money catchphrase
was fairly catchy though. During a PPV Vince McMahon was
backstage with Teddy Long, Jonathan Coachman and William Regal,
only to be interrupted by Cryme Tyme.
Shad and JTG entered the room to talk to V MAC (their name for
McMahon) about his paternity suit storyline. This led them into
a dancing circle around McMahon. At first, all but McMahon and
Regal were dancing. It just happened to be four black men who
couldn't help but dance. Then, Regal couldn't help but dance as
well, leading to McMahon being surrounded.
It took Ron Simmons, to break up the dance with just one word:
       DAMN.
       Kerwin White (Chavo Guerrero)
A stereotypical, middle aged conservative white man. Chavo dyed
his hair blond, took to wearing sweaters and at first had the
tagline “if it’s not white, it’s not right” which got dropped
fairly quickly due to negative backlash. Kerwin started slating
ethnic minorities of all varieties Native Americans, African
Americans, Asian Americans and Latin Americans, these
ethnicities were all fair game to Kerwin. He had a feud going on
with then-babyface Shelton Benjamin and directed a lot of racist
vitriol his way. The Kerwin White angle was not only racist, it
was also stupid. The thing that kicked this gimmick to the curb
was the shocking death of Eddie Guerrero.
Vince McMahon Says The Word Ni##a
There isn't really a nice way to sugarcoat this one. It's a
pretty blatant reason for why it is one of the top racist
moments in history. Sure, some will wonder where on the list is
Booker T's rant that ended with the same word being said. There
may even be some looking for Vince McMahon and a similar
encounter with Sabu. None of them, however, top this fiasco.
There's no easy way to explain this one but to say he did it to
       add shock value.
       Virgil
Virgil was made to wear a glittery wrestling version of a
butler’s suit, in other words, he was Di Biases slave/servant.
Another case of shameful racism but in a more innocent age in
which we didn’t think about the racial ramifications of what was
       going on.
The African Dream Akeem & The Doctor of Style, Slick
The WWE hit the double clanger with this one. First they have a
skinny black manager play an a typical 70′s pimp named
Slick. But they decided to double down on racial insensitivity
by taking competent White big man, One Man Gang, and giving him
a Africanized makeover into Akeem, the African Dream. Let that
sink in. The guy was billed from “Deepest, Darkest Africa”
wearing a dashiki and other “traditional African garb” as ring
attire while speaking and dancing in the most over-the-top
stereotypical jive manner. Of course this didn’t get over at all
in generating the heel heat to get anywhere close to being a
main event draw. That being said, he did have one of the racist
       entrance themes ever.
HHH Says Black Wrestlers Don't Win World Championships
Booker T was a five-time champion in WCW, but had not won the
title in WWE at this point. Booker T was the top contender for
Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship (the same belt that
WCW used) and had a match set for WrestleMania XIX.
Triple H then came out to cut this promo on Booker T, which has
received some mixed signals over the years. Specifically, the
controversy stems around what Triple H means by "people like
you." Whether or not it was intended to be a racial thing, it
still makes a lot of people feel uneasy.
       Muhammad Hassan
Half Italian/half Jordanian retired wrestler who worked for the
WWE as Muhammad Hassan, an Arab American. His layout was to give
a positive portrayal of Middle Eastern Americans who he felt had
been demonised by the 9/11 terror attacks. He announced this in
a promo and then gave thanks to Allah (something he soon had to
stop doing after protests from Muslim Americans). He used his
promos to bitch about the way Arab Americans were portrayed but
stereotyping them himself by wearing a cloth on his head. The
WWE went one step too far as they did an angle where four masked
terrorists attacked the Undertaker with a steel wire, similar to
real life be-headings and carried out manager Daivari mimicking
Middle Eastern funeral ceremonies. This took place a few days
before a fatal terrorist bombing in London., Hassan's character
was in full effect and the pre-taped show ran on regardless in
America and Canada because there was no time to edit the
footage. There were, however, strong warnings put in place. The
footage was cut for Australian and European editions. The media
picked up on this charade of Hassan’s and
...the network put pressure on the WWE to remove Hassan from
       their shows.
In a segment not allowed to be broadcasted on TV but was put up
on the WWE website, Hassan defends himself, saying that everyone
thinks he is a terrorist but he isn’t. The WWE couldn’t wait to
release him of his contract contract in later 2005
       The Mexicools
Super Crazy, Juventud and Psicosis were three great wrestlers in
WCW or ECW, only to come to WWE to...be Mexican guys. If I am to
understand some of their gimmick, they are supposed to be
backstage workers and guys with jobs in the arena. This act
didn’t last long as Vince and crew got tired of their joke and
ended it quicker than it started.
       Rowdy Roddy Piper/Piper’s Pit
Jimmy Snuka’s appearance on Piper’s Pit has to be up there in
the most outrageously racist moments in the WWE. Piper is
ranting and raving like a maniac at Snuka before pulling out a
pineapple to make Snuka feel ‘more at home’. He could have
stopped there, but no, Roddy produces more fruit, coconuts and
bananas ect, and throws it at Snuka whilst shouting that these
projectiles will remind his adversary of the Fiji Isles. He
smashes a banana into Snuka’s face and punches him. The set
falls down around them and Piper keeps up his volley of verbal
and fruit-based abuse on Snuka. Seeing Snuka steel himself up
again and flying into a rage, hysterical Snuka being held back
       by three or four men.
The sight of Snuka crawling on his knees while Piper beats him
with a belt, shouting all sorts of abuse at him is jaw-dropping
stuff. Apparently this attack on Snuka was because Snuka
complained of not having enough time to speak when he had
previously appeared on Roddy’s segment. Roddy’s response to
Snuka’s grumbling seemed totally out of proportion and I cannot
believe such provocative, racist material was sanctioned by the
WWE. Absolutely disgusting antics. I was appalled at Piper and
WWE's behaviour. Roddy himself was an ethnic stereotype of a
‘rowdy’ Scotsman. During a WrestleMania VI match-up between the
‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and Bad News Brown the two brawled after Bad
News eliminated Piper from the Royal Rumble as retribution after
he himself had been tossed by Piper, WWF fans got excited to see
the two lock-up at the showcase of the immortals. For Black
fans, not so much, as they began depicting Brown as race baiting
whiner culminating in the Rowdy Scot doing a number of
incoherent promos building up the match with half of his face in
black and wrestling their match with half his body that way.
Another moment of WWE racism was Piper talking soul food with
Tony Atlas, this also goes down as a classic WWE racist moment.
Piper brought Tony Atlas into the pit and only inquired about
one topic: soul food. He asked about chicken and pig feet, to
which Atlas replied that he does eat those things. I don't know
how long it took Atlas to catch on that it was a joke at his
       expense.
       Other notable mentions
The Godfather – He. Was A Pimp.
The Nation Of Domination ----- Black group. One night on WWE
RAW, Degeneration X all dressed in black face to mimic the
Nation of Domination, including X-Pac painting his face black to
       make fun of Mark Henry.
With all that being said. I ask you, is WWE just as racist if
not more than Hulk Hogan? Also, one has to wonder. Why has there
never been a black WWE Champion?

Very I am with you . WWE have got to get away from 'black '
wrestlers and treat them all the same. When was the last time
two BLACK guys main events a show ? I mean black and not from
       the US
