One Night Only: World Cup 2014 thoughts

Right out the gate, just want to say this is a quality show
overall. Just finished watching this on TNA's youtube channel
and had a great time. This PPV series has been absolutely
stellar in my opinion since #OLDSCHOOL and I'm glad to see this
show continues on with the winning streak.
Opening up the show is essentially a draft pick.The captains of
four teams are introduced and one by one a member of each team
is chosen. Gotta say, I thought this went over rather well. EC3
knows how to work a crowd with the mic and he showed that
strength early on playing with the "WHAT" chants and more. The
draft picks were nice because it set-up the rest of the show
without everything just being thrown out there for no reason.

Eric Young - Bully Ray, Gunner, ODB, Eddie Edwards
Kurt Angle - Davey Richards, Sanada, Madison Rayne, Mr. Anderson

Now I don't want to spoil the main event for anyone who doesn't
like them, but as for the quality of matches, I thought they
were all good. Some were more serious athletic contests, it's
obvious to tell with the talent at hand, but you also got some
comedy fit in there as well to mix things up. Overall, all the
match were good, but if I had to choose the "worst" one, it
would be Love/ODB as the crowd was a bit tuckered out by then,
but they found room to insert some very fun spots, one of which
included Earl Hebner getting pissed at everybody for running
around the ring. I personally got a good laugh out of that one.
My personal favorite match of the night was EC3 vs Davey
Richards as it was a great athletic contest, the crowd was very
hot for these guys, and I didn't realize EC3 was so over with
the ladies. Girls were going wild for him in this match.
Especially the ones in the front. Favorite tag match of the
night was BroMans vs Mr. Anderson and Sanada. It was at times,
good wrestling, but the best parts were when Mr. Anderson got a
hold of DJ Z's laptop and dropped some bass of his own. Very fun
to watch.
Not to say it was 100% perfect. For those who feel like the act
of taping these PPVs so early and sacrificing their ability to
stay current with the actual show will notice the match with
Gunner and Shaw. Not to mention Sanada is a face with Roode as
the heel. Obviously clashing with the current product on TV.
Personally, this has never bothered me as the name One Night
Only always indicated that this was different from the rest of
the product. If I'm to be honest, I kind of prefer it this way
with four main PPVs a year and O.N.O filling the gaps, but
that's just me.
Good show, a fun time was had, if you see it on your TV, be sure
to catch, but the show is well worth the asking price TNA is
currently asking for on their youtube channel, or if you want to
wait for the eventual DVD release.
