Wxw is a highly respected German promotion that has been around
since 2000. This card comes from 2008 and features the wonderful
work of the Pro Wrestling NOAH crew and comes from their regular
       venue of Oberhausen.
       Steve Allison vs Bad Bones
So first up we get to see Bad Bones in his natural environment,
putting together a tidy little match with Steve Allison, while
not great it sets the tone for what's to come and gives both a
shop window on for what would have been their biggest stage at
       the time.
       Go Shiozaki vs Murat Sospurus
There is no doubt what the WXPW faithful came to see and that's
pure wrestling at its best. The local boy here giving himself a
great account alongside the stunning talent of Go Shiozaki who
could have been only a few years into his career. This match
also shows the benefits of no ring barriers. The crowd is up
close to the apron making for an intense gladiatorial
environment. Which suits these two mat grapplers down to the
       ground.
Emil Sitoci vs Tommy End vs Super Dragon vs El Generico
On the other hand here you have for great aerialists. Locals
Emil and Tommy pedal hard to keep up but get to show their wares
in this match very clearly. El Generico is as good as he ever
was, that young whipper snapper Sami Zayn in NXT looks so much
like him (cough) but he seems to be more weighty giving him
better presence. The Generico of old was his flight happy self.
Even if they had to clear the first two rows to make a be line
for the bar over the top rope. The real treat of this match
though for me is Super Dragon, now retired so he can concentrate
on PWG's booking here he shows how great he was in his ring hay
       day.
       Doug Williams vs Low Ki
This one is similar to the second match with two mat veterans
giving it their all in a heated sporting contest, but showcases
both pure wrestling talents. Say what you like about Low-Ki's
less than stellar professional reputation he can go in the ring
like very few people on earth. Matching him up with Williams
gave them both a chance to pull out the very mat based stops.
Jun Akiyama and Tengkwa vs Adam Polak and Baron Von Hagen
As much as the rest of the card was about state of the art
wrestling action, this one is old school story telling at its
best. Tengkwa injured by Hagen and Polak looking for revenge he
seeks a tag team partner and finds the greatest tag wrestler of
his generation Jun Akiyama. Looking like a Japanese Clint
Eastwood, who happens to be jet lagged and pissed off, it would
have been easy for him to walk in and kill everything in sight,
but he is fair to the local heels and gives them every chance to
shine before building up to the finish. Which must have been a
dream come true for the young Tengkwa. The crowd truly love the
guy as well, as over as anyone I have ever seen in a wrestling
       ring.
       Ares vs Kenta Kobashi
On second thoughts, maybe Kobashi is more over. Taking on Swiss
Money Holding's Ares in the main event. He makes a stunning
entrance for the deafening volume of the chants more than
anything else. Ares is no slouch, he tagged with Antonio Cesaro
for years and has been a regular for Chikara. Ares really is the
perfect choice of opponent, a born heel a face vs face main
wouldn't have worked as well as this does and has everything you
expect from a Kobashi match, intensity, drive, passion and lots
and lots of chops. Deafening even with Ares wearing a shirt,
they sound like gun shots going off and if you have ever seen
his training videos those hours of chopping at a backing board
really pay off. This match does give the feeling you are
watching something special and is highly recommended.
       Enjoy the show;
