4 side has more give in the ropes to six sides have less give .

Maybe six sides for x division wrestlers and knockouts 4 side
for everyone else.

Six sided rings started in Dragon Gate (Or Toryumon as it was
known then) in the early 2000's. TNA saw it and picked up the
idea, AAA followed suit and still use it. It made a great visual
difference I have to say. They do seem to be stiffer to work in
from what I can see hence the preference for four sides. I think
it would make sense pure from trying to break the monotony. It
was famously removed by Hulk Hogan who suffered a full on fan
revolt/ The last time it was used was at Destination X in 2011.

It is difficult for wrestlers to adapt. They are used to wrestle
in the 4 sided ring, passing to the 6 sided requires a lots of
training, so, if TNA wants this ring they should train the
wrestlers first
