Sheriff Lonstar's PPV of the Week; Girl Trouble

       ---------------------------------------------------------
I love Oz Academy, I really, really do and though it will never
replace Sendai Girls or World Wonder Ring Stardom in my
affections of Joshi promotions, it is the place I go to when I
just want something different. This week's PPV of the Week is
“Big Bonus” their show from the 8th of December last year which
had the running theme of animosity between tag partners.
00:04:11 Moeka Haruhi vs "Cuty Suzuki"(Amanos)
00:10:58 Carlos Amano & Sakura Hirota vs Manami Toyota & Tsubasa
       Kuragaki
The show opens with one of the most bizarre sights you will see
in pro wrestling, the incredibly butch Carlos Amano doing her
Cutie Suzuki impression. Suzuki was one of the lead draws of the
JWP promotion in the early nineties, Her appeal came not only
from her sparkling work rate but her equally attractive good
looks that sold a lot of T-shirts and a lot of posters. Amano so
isn't that. Her short haired, barefoot, and lots of head butts
approach to pro wrestling has made her a much beloved star, but
not exactly girlie. It is nice to see her having fun though even
if a quick change is required after the match for a slightly
more serious affair tagging with Sakura Hirota against Manami
Toyota & Tsubasa Kuragaki. This is followed up by an in ring
chat show hosted by Manami Toyota who has made a habit of this,
usually at Amano's request. Well it makes a change from a sweaty
and grunting press conference I suppose.
00:18:18 Yuu Yamagata vs GAMI vs Tomoko Nakagawa
The three way dance between Tomoa Nakagawa, Yuu Yamagata and
GAMI is up next. Another comedy spot-fest as things are likely
to go that way when GAMI is involved. The veteran Yamagata is
good to watch here as is the spectacular Nakagawa. You may see
more of Nakagawa this year in the US. She is the current
Shimmer Tag Team champion with Kellie Skater, and with taping
due this weekend we shall see what more she can produce on that
side of the Pacific. I strongly recommend you looking her up,
the protégée of TAKA Michinoku, she has had some wonderful bouts
for Oz, Stardom, Shimmer and Triple Tails in the last 12 months.

00:22:54 Yumi Ohka vs Mio Shirai
Yumi Ohka vs Mio Shirai is a slightly less comedy affair. Well
only slightly. The two stable mates start the match off all
scientific and stally, until their manager Mika Nishio, taunts
them into getting started properly. This is a fun match to watch
as they start to build their comedy cattiness into a great
straight wrestling match. Their tag team has been great this
year, and this just goes to show you don't have to split up a
good team if you want two members to wrestle each other.
00:30:29 Chikayo Nagashima & Sonoko Kato vs AKINO & Ayako Hamada
Chikayo Nagashima & Sonoko Kato vs AKINO & Ayako Hamada, this
one takes some explanation. Nagashima won the Wizard of Oz title
in 2013 and started turning heel in the process, working with
but not joining Seikigun, Mayumi Ozaki's heel stable that she
was once a member off. She was relieved of the title by AKINO in
the summer of 2013, and turned on Seikigun, realising the error
if her ways. However none of the faces would trust her. So she
has become a lone wolf looking to tear down Seikigun after she
lost a Hair vs. Hair Kamikiri match on Autumn of 2013 which I
       looked at here;

Kato is gunning for a shot at AKINO's Wizard of Oz title. That's
the simple one. Finally we have AKINO and Hamada, who despite
being the Queens of ARSION tag team champions some 15 years ago,
in the storyline, can't stand each other after a betrayal
instigated by Aja Kong, Hamada's mentor. Got that? Right now
enjoy four of the best female workers in the world making sense
of it all with a great match with tons of heat and loads to
       watch. You won't be disappointed.
01:01:30 Hikaru Shida, Hiroyo Matsumoto & Kagetsu vs Aja Kong,
       Dynamite Kansai & Mayumi Ozaki
And so the main event. Shida, Matsumoto and Kagetsu are all kind
of getting along for now. Despite the fact they are all in
competition with each other to prove who is the best young joshi
going right now, not just in Oz Acadmey either Matsumoto &
Kagetsu both work for Stardom, Kagetsu works is of course a
Sendai Girl. Aja and Dyanmite have been tagging on and off for a
long time in Oz Academy and they both hate Mayumi Ozaki after
years of sneak attacks. Throw in Ozaki's usual ringside helpers,
Mio Shirai, Mika Nishio, Yumi Ohka and Police who at various
points get fought off by Aja and Dynamite and this is all fun
       and games.
When you don't want something to serious, not that they don't
serious, Oz Academy is the place to be. Having had 25 years in
the business Mayumi Ozaki is trying to things differently and
all credit it too her for carving a unique furrow in the pro
       wrestling game.
