Let us take a trip to the theatre, and a unique card that
features one of the world's best female wrestlers ever. This is
Bull Nakano's Memorial Card from 2012. Now hang on, Bull isn't
dead. She is now a renowned Golf pro playing on the Asian
Women's tour. However she felt she needed to have closure on her
career and chose a unique way of doing, because lets face it
Bull Nakano was a pretty unique wrestler. She held the WWWA and
WWF Women's title and there is a short list of women who did
that. The Matsunaga brothers must have helped out for this show
because they even let them use the WWWA Ring mat and Big Red,
one of the most important title belts in women's wrestling
history. What did they do in the show? Well they had some great
matches on the under card, which I will get to in a moment, and
they re-enacted some of the key moments of Bull's life, before
she is “laid to rest” as a wrestler by walking off into the
sunset with her husband. So in this week's PPV of the Week, we
look at Bull Nakano and celebrate one of the fullest wrestling
lives of the later 20th century, but lets go match by match.
       Aja Kong vs Ayako Hamada
Bull Nakano made her name as stiff brawler with penchant for
wrestling finesse in extreme circumstances, and there are no two
better wrestlers in the world in that mould than Hamada and
Kong. The teacher (Kong) vs the student (Hamada) is always
fascinating and they blew the roof off of the building's in New
England when this match headlined a Joshimania show for Chikara
the year before. Kong's feud with Nakano in AJW set the tone for
the 1990's in All Japan Women's Wrestling and its fitting it
should set up this whole card. Excellent match, though I have
seen better for them, its cracking opener.
[Guillotine Match]Kayoko Haruyama & Ryo Mizunami vs AKINO & Maki
       Narumiya
This one suffers a little from everyone trying to attempt every
leg drop variation ever thought of. Bull's leg drop was an
awesome sight to behold as shown in the build up footage to this
match, sadly the younger women in this match can't do its
justice, but they have fun trying. The quality of the
competitors salvage it, very watchable a but a little comedy to.

Jaguar Yokota, Manami Toyota, Tomoka Nakagawa, Natsuki*Taiyo &
Cherry vs Dump Matsumoto, Kyoko Inoue, Leon, Sawako Shimono &
       Tsukushi
This is an old school AJW five on five high speed brawl across
the building extravaganza. It is supposed to be fun, hence the
presence of Dump Matsumoto who wrestles very rarely these days
and usually tries decapitate someone with a Kendo stick when she
does. If you like your joshi pure this match has those moments
but really its just a fun time brawl for old times sake.
       Kana vs Kagetsu
Now your talking. Kagetsu is a protégée of Meiko Satomura who
you will know I have a soft spot for. Kana is Kana as you know I
also have a soft spot for. These two give it plenty in a great
match up. I really hope Kagetsu has an all star break through
this year. She has a great feud lined up with Meiko Satomura
fueled by the return of joshi Legend Chigusau Nagayo (Meiko's
mentor) and I am hoping for great things for her. Kana is just
awesome and I am hoping to find the match she had with Meiko in
       February soon to bring you.

Nanae Takahashi, Meiko Satomura & Emi Sakura vs Ayumi Kurihara,
       Yoshiko & Tsukasa Fujimoto
This one requires a bit of Joshi knowledge to understand. The
veterans; Satomura (Sendai Girls), Takahashi (Stardom) and
Sakura(At the time Ice Ribbon Freelance now) who all came out of
different dojo's vs Kurihara (Ice Ribbon), Yoshiko (Stardom) and
Fujimoto (JWP), its the youngsters vs the veterans and its an
all out free for all of fun. Especially when Sakura and
Takahashi try and encourage the all business Satomura into some
modern day Joshi posing. Not a wrestling classic, but with some
improvisation it matches up some great characters with some
great pure wrestling. This night was about celebration and all
       involved had a great time.
       Yuzuki Aikawa vs Hikaru Shida
The main event for the actual wrestling portion of the show.
Shida and Aikawa deliver something pretty damn good. Shida is a
pure wrestler and it shows in her exchanges. Aikawa is now
retired, but in her time could turn it on with the right
opponent and Shida fits the bill. As a retired model its safe to
say she wasn't pushed on her wrestling ability but she worked
hard and developed her own style, adding some MMA kicks to her
mat work that she learned under her mentor Nanae Takahashi. This
is not a Joshi classic, but is main event worthy and it was nice
to see Stardom which is the natural successor to AJW having such
a great showing on this card.
The rest of the show began the re-enactments before the actual
       retirement ceremony.
Fake Crush Girls vs Dump and Bull
A look back at her career (hype for Bull/Dump vs Crush Girls
       Match)
Bull made her name tagging with Dump Matsumoto in AJW and the
WWE (WWF back then). Lioness Asuka and Chigusau Nagayo probably
take their legacy to seriously to get involved in this kind of
shenanigans, so we have The Fake Crush Girls, I don't know who
is under those suits but they have the look just right in the
clothes if not the face masks. Thankfully it is inter-cut with
footage of the real Crush Girls. At the time it was the most
forward thinking and heated rivalry in pro wrestling anywhere in
the world. It was bloody brawling at its very best and high
stakes; at least two hair vs hair matches where put together for
this feud the highest pay off match in Joshi. If you haven't
seen those matches in full I suggest you look them up they are
something epic and remind you what great wrestling should be.
Hype for the Bull vs Kandori Match [chainmatch]Shinobu Kandori
       vs Bull Nakano
Once the Crush Girls feud had died down, they both retired, Bull
became the main event star of AJW. She was WWWA Champion and had
a series of ultra violent feuds with Aja Kong, Akira Hokuto and
Shinobu Kandori. This match really put the fledgling LLPW
promotion the match. A world class Judo player Kandori was as
tough as they come. The chance to prove herself against the
biggest name in women's wrestling at the time didn't come along
very often and she grabbed it with both hands. This re-enactment
obviously can't be as violent as the original match which you
can see highlights of here and you can see what they where
prepared to do for their careers, which was hurt each other
       greatly.
Hype for the Bull vs Aja Match Bull Nakano vs Aja Kong
Bull's reign came to an end against Aja Kong in 1992. Aja had
made her name also in an epic two year feud with Nakano as their
stables battled it out in hair vs hair, cage and regular matches
that just have to be seen to be believed, leg drop off the top
of the cage anyone? Their final title match before Bull ventured
into the WWF for the final time was also something to behold,
the on they choose to re-enact though is their 1990 cage
classic. Long regarded as the greatest women's brawl of all
time. This one made Aja a star and cemented Bulls reputation as
WWWA Champion and a worthy successor to the AJW legacy.
This isn't so much a wrestling card as a celebration of someone
who gave more to pro wrestling than most do and it was nice that
she had the proper send off she deserved. She obviously took a
lot of time and effort in picking how she wanted to be sent off,
and it was great her friends came out to support her. The
       wrestling was cracking to. Enjoy the show;

I know a few people asked for some British Wrestling to be
included, and some old school stuff at that. So my plan for next
week is to do a primer on World of Sports knowledge, if there
are any matches you wish to be included please list them below.
I realise that I can't do PPV's as they didn't exist in the UK
market back then, but I can put some matches together on a theme
and give you a run down of facts and background and explanation.
So let me know what you would like to see :).
