That is a difficult question to answer but I'll give it a shot.
It basically boils down to the market your thinking of
nationally. In the UK TNA is the biggest wrestling product in
terms of viewing figures, but its aired free on network TV.
There is not telling that if WWE decided to move to ITV say they
wouldn't be bigger. In terms of live attendance they are number
two. WWE command bigger crowds, more loyal fan base who are
likely to spend more money. The UK crowd from what feedback you
see that tends to go to live events tends to be more hardcore
wrestling fans who prefer a pure wrestling product and find WWE
to promo/storyline orientated. There are always going to be less
of them. So overall I'd rank them number 2 in the UK
In the US, where there are more companies, with varying levels
of exposure, they are easily the second highest TV product, but
probably about joint equal with ROH on live attendance outside
of the big events. TNA PPV's take them well ahead of ROH in
terms off live attendance, though that dropped significantly
last year. So I'd say no. 2 in the US, with a more southern
'Rasslin vibe to their fans, and a lot of hardcore guys.
In Mexico they don't promote so have no live figures and will be
well behind AAA and CMLL obviously because their program isn't
Lucha or in anyway Lucha inspired, doesn't have the same
psychology and few Spanish speaking stars. So probably somewhere
around the 3rd biggest company exposure wise in Mexico and may
actually behind Perros Del Mal. Difficult to say without
figures, but they do have presence there.
In Japan they are far down the totem poll. They don't run live
shows yet, though had a lot of exposure with NJPW trade deals in
the past. Their new deal with Wrestle-1 should expose them some
more, but as a TV entity they are way behind NJPW, AJPW, NOAH,
ZERO-1 and in fact probably some of the large Joshi companies.
And definitely in live attendance, most of the women's
promotions in Japan outdraw TNA's equivalent numbers in the US.
In the rest of the world, I know they do well in Germany and
Australia and are very big in India where really they are the
only show in town, WWE seems to have dropped the ball there
really.
